Jesus Christ. I thought my Crown Vic was a pain with the CAN, and that thing was simple enough overall for me to work on it (armed with FORScan anyway). It threw U codes that made no sense and didn't affect how the car ran (stuff like "dome lamp grounded" when the interior lighting worked fine, "hood latch open" when there was no switch on the hood, plenty of DDM faults when everything worked, etc). I've seen a Tesla completely shut down over 2 wires pinched between the rear seat bracket and body though. The tech that had to fix it was cussing up a storm; he had to replace the entire LH body harness. Had it been any of the other wires in that harness, he could have done a cut/splice/heatshrink, but CAN wires are the only thing they won't repair off the line.
