As a professional cameraman, and even in taking home movies, I've always felt rule number 2 (right behind keep it steady) is shut the gently caress up. I hope those guys take another lap sometime and end up in a tree.

Sounds fuckin' great, and the driver sure is pedalling it around some of the corners.

Came here to post this. I sure do love Corvettes, but I don't imagine I'll ever get my hands on a ZR-1.

I have never personally been but a few bike friends have. It has the most turns of some distance of any road in the country and its a big attraction for group rides on both bikes and cars. Pretty similar to what was going on on the CA vids. People trying to drag knee for photographers with a huge emphasis on speed limits and staying in your lane. I cant remember the name but there is a really popular photographer for the dragon that posts pics every big session for you to buy if he gets you. Im pretty sure there is a lodge or small motel near it that is the epicenter of activity.

Every time I start thinking about taking my car down there, I hear more stories about all the spots cops set up radar and tickets and whatnot and it gets me disinterested again.

I'll bet a Murcielago clutch burning smells better than a normal car.

Also a C5 has the active traction control always on unless you specifically push the button off, which lights up a warning until you turn it back on. I know I've activated it once when I didn't intend to but it certainly didn't end in disaster or anything.

I honestly thought that "hellaflush" was a term people like us came up with to mock people who actually like that stuff. I had no idea that's what they actually call it themselves. Well now I don't know what to think :P

Edit: oop, top of page. Here's a modified Corvette going 230mph and crashing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1l6TW6OCpc4

I cannot believe how dumb/unprepared some of these events are.
In other words, how can you wear a full suit but overlook the basic "hey, I might need a fire extinguisher."

At least they had the good sense to dig a huge ditch that backwards rolling cars would go in and make all the spectators stay behind it. That could have been way worse. Neat video though.

I just like Nurburgring videos, but here's a recent one of a Viper ACR-X doing a lap in 7:03.

225 on the highway. loving idiots. I guess the cars are impressive, but that really sours me on everything going on in that video. You have enough money to tune a Lambo, take it to the loving track.

I imagine most people aren't anywhere near a track long enough to reach those kinds of speeds. Dragstrips I assume don't encourage you to continue accelerating after the first 1/4 mile. I just measured and the local one here only has 3/4 of asphalt total, while airport runways are about 1.3 miles. Not that they should be doing that on public roads, but rather they're trying to achieve something that isn't legally possible anywhere except maybe that Nardo ring?
