Found this channel, seems like a channel that's just about to take off, 20k subs at the moment of writing. He must be from near Fitzee (a favorite youtuber) since he says "graghe" instead of garage. And does similar stuff, lots of old cars, welding cutting welding cutting.... https://www.youtube.com/@CarterAutoRestyling

Was it in this thread or the OSHA thread someone linked a guy who jury rigged together all kinds of tools and project, like a lathe from like saw horses and a drill to angle grind the rust of a long pipe? I'd like to find that guy and subscribe to his newsletter. Content for this thread, Fitzee at it again, making new body panel parts with complex shapes using far too little expensive tooling for a proper youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBR83TPPMro His Divine Shadow fucked around with this message at 07:01 on May 29, 2023 |

I parked next to a Mazda 626 GLX from ca 1990 last week and that car gave me such nostalgia. My first car was one of those. Though a more simple GL variant. My parents have driven nothing but Mazda since 1988. Of course their current car is a 626 from 1998, bought new. Think the last 626 before they went to just the 6. They can't bear to sell it. Just too good, just passed inspections without a single fault. I have the 6 and less warm feelings towards it. I'd rather drive the one in the photo...

I've never thought much about brands at all really, just get the almost cheapest tires. Usually they have been Nokias. I am not sure if there's a false economy in that or not. But balancing is always included in the price regardless.

Rally driver Ola Strömberg drives a Saab 99 in a 1983 race and has engine problems, he has to keep the engine above 5500 rpms at all times or it dies. So he does so, runs the race without letting go of the gas pedal. He's got a mic and keeps narrating camly what he does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCLgh8sbWXM

Not car related either. Economics video about planned obsolescence. But when this guy started talking about the physcology of objects and owning things was really interesting, in particular when he brought up modern products like smart phones and I realized that's how I feel about modern cars too. And I wonder if I am alone in thinking that. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fz68ILyuWtA&t=1094s

Seaside garage always has the most interesting cars. Latest is a Porsche 924 which isn't to me a very interesting car but I can see how it would tickle others fancies. I am most interested in his Saab 900 Turbo Commander project. He also has a Citroen AZU pickup going on right now. I just like the combination of old rusty european cars. In several videos he uses this cool device whose name I can't remember, but it tips the car on it's side. Tip-something. https://www.youtube.com/@SeasideGarage

Here's an odd one. Tatra 613. It's a soviet era car (well this one a few years post breakup), engine in rear, the engine is a V8, the engine is air cooled, the engine is DOHC. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEzzGeuQvcc His Divine Shadow fucked around with this message at 20:45 on Mar 23, 2024 |
