I've been upgrading all the hardware on my camera systems to using NordLocks, they're that amazing. Spendy as hell, but very much worth it when life/limb/expensive gear is at risk. I have been trying to get them into regular use in the subsea industry for a while, but everyone sticks with Split-locks.

Surprisingly, there's a decent amount of room in the engine bay, once you remove the crash supports. Luckily, the guy is a good fabricator, and just made new ones out of tube. I hope there's an update soon, because it's a bonkers idea. I want to see it autocross.

angryhampster posted:How much heavier is the J32 compared to the 4-cylinder that came stock with it? According to SuperStreet (http://www.superstreetonline.com/how-to/transmission-drivetrain/1306-honda-engine-drivetrain-weights/), the J32 with tranny is 550#, while the L15A should be about 270-280# (10% lighter than a D-series). I'd be interested to see the corner weights, since the Fit is heavily front-biased stock (~60/40 weight dist), and he's added 180# to the nose.

Powershift posted:The problem is they're both stretched so thin, they have 5 days to get footage, and have to patch an episode together from the footage win or lose. I understand, but this was just poorly planned from the get-go. The Junkyard 'Cuda was way more well thought out, and ended up being an entertaining episode. This just kinda fell flat. There were some laughs, but no substance.

um excuse me posted:A weird thing to think about is how the record setting Veyron was 1200hp with an 8L V16. I feel like that kind of power would be easy with a block like that. I bet you the whole car won't cost $1.7 million either. Production car. That means fully road legal in quantity, emissions, safety, etc. The Veyron was also designed to do 250mph over and over again, assuming you could change tires fast enough.

Safety tie and a driver's cap count? It's always interesting to see how things are done in the third world. Every vehicle in the Caribbean that had been around the block a few times had vise-grip marks on any bolt that had been removed/replaced. One tool for all jobs. That battery place uses: hammer/chisel, snips, the blower/charcoal furnace/crucible/ladle, and that battery-powered soldering iron. I think that's it. Think about how many specialized tools are used in the real factory, then compare it to that. Astonishing.
