Also, I believe c5's and c6's have rear mounted transmissions with the clutch being in the back too, hence opening the rear hatch?

The clutch is mounted on the engine in the front and runs via torque tube to the transmission in the rear.

Run what ya brung enduro from the old Flemington speedway. They did one of these at my local track in 1990 as well, if you brought a car you started, 200 laps. Cautions only if track is blocked or someone is in danger. There were more cars here at OCFS though, over 200 on a 5/8ths track. Started them 5 wide, so many cars that they were still taking to the track after the green flew.

You probably won't see stuff like this at race tracks any more, which is a shame, they are hilarious fun. Kind of a prototype LeMons.

e- the track is so slick because they water it heavily due to a hundred plus cars being on it. Watch them pick up speed as it dries out.

This is pretty much what hornet/X/super-x cars are.

That's a sound motorsport philosophy.

Except for the pro cars, most drift vehicles are built knowing they're probably going to lose body work or break something. It reminds me a bit of the rally "gently caress it, I'm probably going to break it again" spot repairs they do.

And yet there's other big hp RWD road cars with IRS that are just as handy with big fat burnouts or a dragstrip. And even better they work much better on the 99% of where the car is used - on the road.

-2013 GT500

And that answers my point..... how?

There's lazy engineering and there is cost engineering. There's 0 reason to add IRS to the GT500, it's already more capable at the drag strip than any car within 2x the MSRP. It's a fat grand tourer you can rip up the drag strip with, not a single purposed track machine.

With this I'd also like to ask what makes tires screech, because that one does not. Is it the tread pattern? Perhaps something to do with hardness?

The screech comes from the tire compound skipping over pavement. I believe it's affected by hardness and contact patch design. Slicks just have a low pitched hum that isn't that loud.

The forces are pretty similar, the guy in the second one is just bracing and it seems smoother despite a big powerslide at the end which are pretty jarring even when braced.

Head stud failure probably, if you cram enough boost into things without upgrading the studs enough the head can get pushed off and go flying.

Holy scrub radius Batman! I know, since the vehicles are lighter and there essentially isn't suspension in those, that you can have some. But that looks wholly unnecessary. Maybe someone who karts could explain it?

A really simplified explanation is that the rear has way more grip than the front for karts. The frame stiffness and the scrub radius are essentially used to lift one of the rear tires during cornering to balance the grip between front and rear.

If your booster runs out of vacuum, do you still have a pedal press or two that still has assist? Or will you need to pump the hydraulic system up again and revert to braking without assist?

Yea, boosters have enough vacuum for a few stops even if the vacuum generator goes kaput. However, in the case of total failure you're kinda boned since its not hydraulic or mechanical problem, the system is just designed for the brake booster to multiply the 50lbs pedal pressure you're providing up to 300lbs and now with that gone you need to supply that 300lbs pressure with just your legs to get the same braking force.

I taped the earbuds to the rear near the plate then ran the wire into the hatch, although for the external Ill probably need a second piece if tape to keep the wire from flopping around. You need to experiment with mic placement a bit depending on how loud the car gets, I placed it based on idling the first time but the car is so absurdly loud at WOT the mic distortion just made it sound like William Durant screaming "HOLY FUUUUUUUUUUUCK"
