This was posted in the "Amazing facts or photos of SCIENCE" thread in GBS, but might be of interest here: http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-6390440238503396689&q=e46 How to build a BMW 3-series from beginning to end. Very cool. Sorry if this was posted already. E: The E46 is really pretty, I feel bad for BMW for making ugly cars nowadays E2: I like how the film ends by showing all the workers and how they are just regular happy human beings (and with those great German union wages, they ought to be happy). Ziploc posted:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-5wXo1aepg&mode=related&search= It could be one of those lovely semi-automatics. My buddy had one and yes, it was lovely. But Preludes are nice. Limited slip diff in the front and when the vtec kicks in... yay But it is kinda silly to have a car with subpar performance below a certain rpm mark and then all hell braking loose once you go over that very steep line. Ziploc posted:Edit: http://youtube.com/watch?v=aexl_eeiHDw Bah, the crazy fucker, I hope he loses his license. I didn't think his shifts were especially lovely, he even blipped the throttle. I just like the twisties too much for my own good Did you drive on the same road, it kinda looked like it? Don't worry about it too much. It's one thing taking blind corners when you're a 21ST CENTURY TEENAGER!!!!! and another when you really expect someone to come at you from around the corner. I've been meaning to post pics and a movie of me doing the crazy poo poo in the snow for a few months now, but since we're having the warmest summer ever measured I'm kinda having trouble doing that.

pacheco posted:I just came poo poo, I must be a total loving nerd because I've almost watched the whole thing. Those Group B cars really get me hot. Steel tube and fiberglass never got so good. WRC is rather lame compared to driving one of those crazy fuckers in a rally. I had some serious flash backs from my childhood watching Group B rallies on TV. Edit: Here's what happened to Henri Toivonen in the last year of Group B. At about the 2:30 mark they show the charred remains of his car so you can see that it was essentially steel tubes and stuff on top to make it look like a car. Another interesting rally driver is Marko Märtin: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Markko_M%E4rtin He missed a turn or whatever and his co-driver died. It shocked him so much he quit the series dispite being an excellent driver who would probably have done very well.

Just comment "FAKE" or "This is obviously fake" or "this is so loving fake" no matter what the video is about. Soon it will become a huge fad and after that no-one will ever comment again.

oxbrain posted:Casters under the rear wheels. I've wanted to rig something like that for the longest time. That, since the rear wheels don't spin, but also the Prelude has a limited slip differential so that could make it extra special. I'm thinking a Prelude is going to be the next car I get, they've depreciated nicely too. Of course it's going to be hard to find a good one.

This was posted on GBS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bx8JwOaiAQ4 It's Marilyn Manson's new music video. Slightly NWS I guess, though nothing's really showing, there's some fake blood towards the end. The AI bit about it starts after the intro, they're sitting in a convertible doing some insanely dangerous driving. BTW, anyone recognise the type of car? Edit: Maybe a 65'ish Corvette? Simkin posted:This is the singularly coolest promotional video for a car, ever. Not only is the car loving awesome (yay for aerodynamic design from the early to mid 20th century), but the video shows just how cool the car is by driving at rather illegal speeds on the freeway, in town, evading police, fording a river, and generally just hooning around. Plus, having an Audrey Hepburn clone for a passenger in the middle of a bench seat adds a fair bit to it. Wow, amazing. In communist Tseckoslovakia they advertised a state built car by showing people braking the law in it. Crazy stuff! Now I really want an old Tatra. The Tatra had an air cooled rear mounted V8, had a basic structure that was copied for the VW bug (but obviously was much bigger) and some models had a double rear window, where the air for the engine was sucked in from between them. Might be pretty hard to find one nowadays though
