I just finished The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera. It was very beautifully written and translated, though it did get depressing at the end.

The Unbearable Lightness of Being is a very interesting commentary on Communism in the mid-twentieth century. Kundera was an anti-Soviet activist who lived in the Czech Republic around the Prague Spring of 1968 and this novel reflects the general culture and history of that time period. I recommend it.
