Charity, the Clown Prostitute posted:Beloved by Toni Morrison I really enjoyed this one, and I didn't think that I would. Morrison's a great writer - brilliant and enjoyable - and I like the "magical" elements. I just finished Mao II and I'm gearing up to write a paper comparing it to Catcher in the Rye (the novel seems to draw on various allusions (obvious and not) to Catcher in order to emphasize its expression of the modern world - the phony images of Holden's world pushed to a breaking point). It's probably one of my favorites.
