I've been trying to track this one down off and on for a while, with no luck. I had it taped off BBC 2 (in the UK) where it was shown as part of some animation season, probably in the early-mid 90s.

It was animated, the character designs looked like they were in a similar style to Fido Dido, with white pupil-less eyes, wavy lines for hair and so on. It was about 2 guys (brothers) and their dog.

I really dont remember that much about the story, I think it was pretty ubsurdist, and involved the brothers fleeing from villains with guns. The end of the movie it shows that the brothers have been telling their story are now hanging on hairhooks (a hook by which one is hung by the hair) in hell, and features the line "And thats how we came to be here, hanging on a hairhook in hell". Then their dog busts through the wall of hell driving a bus, rescues them, and the villains (somehow) end up hanging on hairhooks instead.

I swear to god I'm not making this up, nor did I dream it. My brother remembers it too, but doesnt remember any more details than I do.

I'm trying to remember the name of a movie that I watched about 10 years ago on either IFC or the Sundance channel. I believe it was set in Australia, but I could be wrong. For some reason, a man is harassed by a local dickhead cop, and the man stands his ground. The man stays in his farmhouse (with his girlfriend) and this results in a huge standoff with authorities. Near the end of the film, his friends and his supporters camp out on his farmland while the police continue trying to negotiate with him. A police sniper accidentally shoots the mans dog, but it lives and gets patched up. I can't remember much beyond that. I would be eternally grateful to the person that helps me identify this. Thanks in advance!

I think I've seen this, but the name escapes me. I think it ends with the authorities making a deal with him that they'll let him off all charges if he agrees to sign up for the army (I think the vietnam war was ongoing and because the guy had been made into a local hero they thought that it would encourage others to sign up too) not realising that because hes illiterate he wouldnt be eligable for the army anyway (or something like that).

Ok I have been trying to remember this movie for the last decade..

- animated fantasy movie. There was a giant or possibly cyclops who took the good guys (a group of them I think) from an inn at night and stuffed them into a bag. He may have punched a wall and grabbed them. I also believe there were dragons but could be wrong. I dont remember the plot, I just remember in, possibly-flawed retrospect, it was semi hobbit-like. I think there was a princess? I also remember a lot of evil glowing red eyes.

I was born in 1985 and I think I watched it when I was between 6 and 10. It scared the poo poo out of me and I had nightmares for months. Got in on VHS from a video rental store

I wish I could give more details.

Its a long shot, but Flight of Dragons? It has dragons, glowing eyes, and although I dont remember cyclops being in it I think there is a scene with people being snatched from an inn.

The other movie is even more vague. I know I saw it sometime after 2003 and that it was a medieval period piece. I seem to remember it not having a lot of plot and mainly featuring a guy walking around in the woods. At some point he finds the body of a warrior or knight and takes his armor/gear. It had very pretty shots of the mountains and stuff.

Not a Knights Tale? Tthe main character does take a dead knights armour if I remember right.

This one has been bugging me for a long time because of how well I can remember parts of it.
Near the beginning the main characters come up with plan to get a roommate and kill him while he's taking a bath. After they kill him, they cut off his hands and feet and smash his teeth so that he can't be identified, and one of the characters works in a hospital and disposes of the hands and feet with the medical waste there. Then at the end of the movie there's a mystery of where some money that was stolen is hidden and one of the characters is shown stabbed to death in his apartment. The camera pans down, shows the knife going through him into the floor, then goes down below the floorboards and reveals that that's where the money was hidden.
It's British and I probably saw it in the late 90s, and it couldn't have been too old at the time.

The murder doesnt fit, but the panning down through the floor to show the cash is definately in Shallow Grave. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111149/ Its totally possible that another film used a similar shot, but it has them disposing of the body of a flatmate.

Even if the roommate wasn't murdered, did he at least die in the bathtub? I distinctly remember a body in the tub and IMDB has somewhere credited as "Bath Victim".

Honestly, I saw it years ago now, and I wasnt paying that much attention. Someone presumably does die in a bath, but it definately isnt the roommate. I mainly remember the very begining and very end of the film, the middle is a bit of a blur to me. Luckily one of the scenes you mentioned is literally the only bit I remember well!

Okay my friends are convinced I dreamt this one. I must have seen it as a kid sometime in the nineties, and it was probably on tv. All I remember is a bunch of disjointed scenes but the main character had an australian accent and was from a small island that a big corporation was trying to buy or something. At one point he crafts a helmet from scrap metal, I think it deflects a bullet later. At some point he goes to the states (I think maybe to make money to save his home?) and he meets a guy with a kilt, scottish accent, and a machinegun who takes a bite from a huge burger and says something like "I'm big... mac". Near the end some people are inspired by some cave drawings to throw beer cans at people. Also I think an island may be towed by a boat.

Is this actually a movie or is this some drug-addled dream I had?

The australian scrap metal helmet sounds like "Reckless Kelly" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0107930/ but its a long time since I seen that and I dont remember much else. Warning; Link contains Yahoo Serious.

Help! This movie name has eluded me for years, and even my strongest Google Fu has produced nothing.

I saw this movie on DVD (I think through a now ex-boyfriend's Netflix) about... 6 years ago.

There are Chinese or Japanese language parts that have subtitles, but the other actors speak in English. The plot loosely follows a young Asian tourist couple on their trip to Memphis to see the Graceland Elvis museum. The overall narrative has to do with some crazy stuff that happen in the area, I think within the same hotel as the couple, which culminate in a man getting shot. The movie moves along very slowly and deliberately.

Any ideas?

Era: VHS - early-to-mid 1980s, certainly not later than 1990
Type: Live-action theatrical release, with trailers containing all the best (IE, watchable) parts. Action/adventure, pretty sure it was PG-rated.
Keywords: clone/ripoff/coat-tail rider of Indiana Jones - manly (not really) adventurer in khakis and leather jacket facing the tropical <?> hazards and enemies both primitive and modern. IIRC he had a geeky glasses-wearing partner, and jeeps were featured heavily (possibly just in the trailer). Nobody famous that I can recall, but just a couple clean-shaven white guys. I remember renting this shite based purely on the trailer, and managed to sit through it exactly once.
Not: Raiders/sequels, King Solomon's Mines, Firewalker, Romancing the Stone, or any TV show/cartoon/anime.

I've been vaguely curious as to what this is for years now, and am still only vaguely interested. :v:

It matches very few of the details, but I've seen people be wrong on more details about a film if you know what I mean, so long shot guess as others seem to have exhausted all the more likely candidates: "Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze". Its from the 70s but I'm pretty sure I saw it on VHS in the 80s and it doesnt match all your details but I remember it as having a similar feel to a lot of the films others have suggested.

Somehow a movie came to mind recently that I can't identify for the life of me. Timeframe was 80s or early 90s, and it was about a group of mental patients who escape from the hospital to find their doctor, who had gone missing.

One of the patients was a heavyset guy who liked to quote commercials, I remember him randomly saying "Nobody doesn't like Sara Lee"
Another was delusional, thinking he was actually the doctor's assistant
Another patient was a nudist for reasons of faith, claiming "we are all naked in the eyes of the Lord"
I'm picturing another one of the group as played by Michael Keaton, but I've combed through his Wikipedia page and can't seem to find a match. This guy, no matter who played him, was prone to bouts of violence (I think)

At the end they find the doctor, who is in a hospital bed, apparently dying.

I've given a lot to work with; what movie was this?

Mixed nuts.

Edit, poo poo, no it's not. I've seen your movie too and apparently for years I had the title wrong.

That must be the scene that I'm thinking of. And these must be two seperate movies.

The other movie had small slicing (creatures? machines?) things in the sand that chased people and cut off peoples legs on and off-camera, whilst they were running for the safety of a house or standing still. I think they may have flown through the air short distances too. I remember it being quite gruesome at the time I saw it (late 90's).

It was also in a desert, as there was sand everywhere that the creatures moved through.

I mean, they arent small, but might as well rule it out anyway; Its definately not Tremors, right? (although swarms of underground slicing things in a desert also is tickling something deep in my memory... I've watched far too many low budget sci-fi films too long ago to narrow it down at all).

Very down beat and low key feel to the film (likely due to a shoe-string budget in retrospect). And I think the climax is set in a dark and gloomy astronomic observatory.

Probably not, but maybe James Nesbitt? He did an undercover cop show in the early 2000s (Murphys law), is irish, and looks generally a bit skeevy in some roles.

Or, depending how sure you are about the "Irish", if its someone who looks a bit like James Nesbitt you are after, John Hannah?

As a bonus, both of them were in a movie in the 90's about the troubles (although neither was the main character): Resurrection Man

Its probably not true, but drat its fun to watch that movie and try and guess who is taking it seriously.
