I've read this thread, and I'm honestly utterly lost. Can anyone recommend a site somewhere that could take me through the basics of building an HTPC as well as the different options when it comes to software etc?

I'm thinking of putting together an HTPC, and I had a question about graphics cards sending audio over HDMI. If I go for a graphics card that supports audio over HDMI, will all sound from the PC go over HDMI as if it was a normal sound card? Will I need a separate sound card for any reason?
