I saw this video a few years back on MTV, and one of the main things that I can remember about it is that it was awesome.

The video had a lot of flashing lights, and there were only two people in the band, a bassist and a drummer. There was a hell of a lot of distortion on the bass as well. I can't remember anything else about the band, but I hope some more learned music goons will be able to help.

Sounds like "Blood On Our Hands" by Death from Above 1979: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wOr3QsJpMZI

Close, but no cigar. The video was tinted a quite strong yellow/orange, with the lights, and the bass was hella heavy. No crowd in the video I'm thinking of too.

Romantic Rights? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StqKf96b4Cs

If not, just search Death From Above on youtube and check the results. I'm almost positive the band is Death From Above 1979.

Yes! That's it! Thank's a lot, NMD! Time to buy everything they've ever released :)

That won't cost very much, they only released one 'proper' album ("You're a Woman, I'm a Machine") an OK remixes/covers/b-sides album :(

Nuuu... Oh well, the stuff I've heard from them sounds great, and Romantic Rights is great fun to play on bass too.

I'm punching myself in the nuts over and over because I should be able to recognise this but I can't. The chords kind of sound like Dreams by Fleetwood Mac, but then the melody starts up and it sounds like a completely different song. I'm just going to admit defeat and say I've got no idea what it is. Can anyone please help?

EDIT: It's Chris Rea's Road To Hell, of course it is. Have a MIDI version of Hotel California as a prize http://www.tindeck.com/listen/qyqd
