The Great Twist
|
Repost... I've done this way too many times...
NOTinuyasha posted:
PHOTOCOPY THE ORIGINAL TICKET BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING, PHOTOCOPY EVERY LETTER YOU RECEIVE
Then,
- Plead not guilty on the ticket
- Get a trial date
- Request extension of trial
- Get extended trial date
- Call office, ask to whom a request for a readjustment of penalties should be mailed
With that information,
- Type a formal letter using a template in MS Word
- No goony poo poo, nobody cares about radar guns
- Don't admit or deny your crime
- State that you understand the severity of the charges
- State that you honestly believe you are a safe driver and have attached an abstract
- Say you're unemployed, or a student, that the penalties would be a "significant hardship"
- If requesting a reduction in points, state you will gladly pay any fine
- Keep it 3 paragraphs (nobody will read it anyway)
- Place a formal DMV-watermarked abstract behind that letter
- Place a photocopy of your driver's license behind the abstract
- Place a photocopy of the photocopy you made of the original ticket
- Place a photocopy of all the letters they have sent thus far behind that
- Place a standard coversheet on the front with another MS-word template with a return address as well as fax number on the top in BOLD LETTERS
- Photocopy this entire thing
- Fax this entire thing in FINE mode, in the correct order, with the addition of a fax coversheet
- Staple this into a packet
- Include a preaddressed, empty envelope with stamps already attached for them to mail a response
- Put all this in a flat rate USPS envelope
- Mail it
- Call to confirm you have faxed your response as well as mailed your response
You'll get some sort of token reduction in the mail. They don't give a poo poo about specific requests but speeding tickets reduced parking or ignored traffic device are easy everywhere in the NE without showing up.
At every point you must ensure they are actually processing what you sent.
