My girlfriend drives a 2001 Civic with 70,000 miles on it. She recently took it in for an SRS recall issue, and they looked over her car for free. The service guy told her she should replace the timing belt asap because it's been 7 years. He even said that some folks would recommend she not even drive it at this point (). Her timing belt is good to 105,000 miles, and I told her the dude was full of poo poo / trying to sell parts. Am I correct in my thinking? I told her I wouldn't think about replacing it until 100,000 miles.
