Also, it's quite possible to commute on the cheap on an old motorcycle, provided you buy the right bike (Japanese single or twin) and are prepared to do some work yourself. No, an oil change or valve service doesn't always require forking out 600$. On a Honda CB125/175/200 for example, and oil change requires 1L of oil and a cleaning of the re-usable oil filter. Total cost is about 4$. Valve service takes all of 10 minutes every 6000miles, requires no special tools. Tires run for 30-40$ each and can be changed at home.
