I dont know what you guys are arguing, im saying that entire page is hilarious. First the absurdity of guts maiming a tiger demon in two, then the stunned reaction of the crowd. Berserk is grim funny.

That happens every loving time he meets someone new. He should just have a pamphlet about himself ready to hand out. On the other hand, I can never get enough of the "IT'S A GUNDAM!!!" reaction he gets from common folk.

I just noticed that Guts has hit the tiger with such fury that not only has it been split in half, its eye has popped out of its socket. It's so hilariously over the top. 'Gallows humor' is a term that really applies to Berserk.

Seriously, there's dozens of panels where someone's or something's head is cut or bashed with such force that its eyeballs fly out as the head and face fall apart. And that's not counting the head explosions, and eyeballs ripped from sockets.

How do you guys cope with the release schedule of Berserk? I'm thinking I should just live my life and forget about it for 1-2 years, then read volumes 1-whatever again. If I do this I'll just get hooked on it at a later date... One chapter every month isn't gonna fly, Miura! I gotta have my fix!!!

This is basically what I did. My last Berserk binge was about 3 years ago. I vaguely kept up in the interim, then the last couple releases inspired me to go back and read everything. Repeatedly. I find a lot of re-read value in Berserk. I tend to follow the battle scenes a lot more closely than when I'm devouring chapter after chapter to find out what happens next. Also, wanting to see some of the later scenes animated, I've been watching a lot of youtube videos from the PS2 game. I laughed out loud for a good 30 seconds at "Demons? In My girlfriend?" but the pancakes still hold my heart. I just love the expression on his face there. He looks either terrified or REALLY excited.

I know Evil Genius was mentioned in the first post of the thread. And I'll wait for the EG release. Perhaps some other versions will come out before theirs, I don't know who else does Berserk... but you don't settle for a low/medium quality speedscan with something like Berserk. After all, when you've waited a month or two for Miura's obsessive levels of detail, you can wait a few more days to see it right.
