Tainen posted:I have this memory of a show I heard when I was little but I cant find an references to it anywhere. There was a guy who called in and was talking about how he had sex with his dog. They kept him on the phone and the rest of the show people called up and yelled at him for being sick. Anyone know if this show is on the archive? That would be James from some point in 1999, one of the more infamous calls that got referenced back to many times at later dates. It took a shitload of digging to find this one. It was actually an interesting show in the end, too. One of the things to note is Producer Ann getting on the line and yelling at him, ignoring everything that he'd talked of to that point. Quick request for information: Anyone remember which episode it was where the entire first 30 or so minutes was a single long story Adam (and Drew, but mostly Adam) had about the previous night's drive home, complete with an on-ramp backup and the harrowing escape from it over a female traffic officer's bullhorning otherwise (SILVER TAURUS DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT MAKE A HOOOOOOOLE)?

Dr. Dos posted:It really got me in the mood for Christmas. It also features Adam ranting about why it should be acceptable to give cash as a gift, instead of going around and giving out gift cards that will just expire and only work in certain places. A great sidebar to that, apparently someone in the California state legislature was listening to Adam rant about his $1000 gift card that he was left with a $2 balance on, to which he made the store personnel run around and find some shoelaces to match the exact balance he had remaining on the card because they wouldn't let him just have the $2 in cash for what he had on the card. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/12/16/BUNNTU1VN.DTL

All too often we rely on second or third hand sources telling us how it "really was" back in the day, and even less data exists about the average person. Even with readily available primary sources, some are already working hard to twist recent history like the vietnam war. Fifty years from now, I can barely imagine how 9/11 and the war on terror will be viewed, but at least people who didn't live during the events will be able to hear what Adam and Drew thought that night. Oh, how insane that sounded at the time.

It was kinda funny to hear them talk about it on the air, because it made them sound like really great buds. I don't care what anyone says; I absolutely love Bruce on the air. He DOES do terrible radio, and he so often walks into humiliating himself long-term. See: "I've had anal sex and passed out a couple of times" and his hilariously slurry "If this is true, you're going to go to jail, buddy." He's really just a great source of drops.

Oh, Jesus. On a quality hunch, I listened to 10-18 of 2001 after the other 2, and it was ALSO an excellent one. The call where Adam made up vagitarian and then called Jimmy about it, and then the airhead who kept asking Adam and Drew random questions, and then came up with the drop, "It's just that you guys SEEM like teenagers, but your voices are like old."

I'm telling you guys, the 5'12, almost 6' caller was during a Seth Green episode, POSSIBLY one where it was only him and Adam, with Drew missing. And the annoying laugh girl, who also gave the 'You want a blowjob or do you want a girlfriend?' line was Caprice. I think.

Baser Instinct posted:On TACS this morning, Adam talks about his departure from Loveline. He had a payment dispute where KROQ cut his Salaray by 1/3 and continued paying Dr. Drew the same. It seemed like it was probably the reason he left the show. He devotes his entire 3rd segment of How Say You to it and I suggest anyone who is interested listen to it. He actually said that they cut it to just below a third of what it had been. Which is just ridiculous no matter the circumstance.

Okay, after listening to the whole behind-the-scenes-at-Loveline bit on TACS, this is absolutely hysterical just how crazy the entire situation was. Between the Drew absenteeism and the Katrina relief thing and the contract signing after he just wanted to know beforehand, absolutely crazy. And yet, Adam ISN'T somehow trying to have Drew killed in spite of it all. Pretty amazing stuff, shows what Adam's made out of, in spite of the fact that he's a dick to a lot of people on the air.

Speaking of TACS, I've been blowing through the recent poo poo left and right while playing WoW. Anyone know if someone put an archive up of full episodes, or of all the segments of each day as they're posted on the freefm Podcast section? It's rather incomplete and loses its notations of which day a particular segment falls on after a few weeks back, which is upsetting. Unless there's a huge archive on there that I'm missing.

Alright, to everybody who hates TACS, just listen through 2008-01-30, Adam deals with a news story called, "Are CraigsList Hookers Safe Anymore?" It's probably the funniest drat bit I've ever heard in my life. A few days later, he does a huge bit about a woman named China who, during a blackout phase after drinking a quart of high-proof rum in 90 minutes, microwaved her 1-month-old baby to death. Similarly amazing.
