It's not so much that I don't like new styles, I am not stuck on third wave, I just never hear of any new bands. Didn't Streetlight Manifesto's album come out this year, and the new bosstone's album?

I'm sad that in high school, I missed the chance to see the Hippos because it was like on a Tuesday night or something. I said, Oh they'll be back! :(

I was listening to GNV FLA, and does anyone else find it weird that in the song, City Of Gainesville, one of the lyrics are "I may be going broke but I’m never broken down"

Considering "The Science of Selling yourself short" is exactly that.

Then again, it seems like on every single album they've had in the last few years, there is at least one song about leaving town.

Saw LTJ/Goldfinger tonight.

I'm glad I caught Suburban Legends, they put on a good show. Big D? That was loving noise. Absolutely horrible. I was never into them before, and I thought this might swing my vote, but the lead singer is horrible.

LTJ only played 3 new songs. Does the lion still roar? Summon Monsters, and Abandon Ship. They also played The Ghosts of Me and You, Gainsville Rock City, Johnny Quest thinks we're sell outs, History of a Boring Town, Great American Sharpshooter, Plastic Cup Politics, Last One Out of Liberty City, How's My Driving, Doug Hastings? The Science of Selling Yourself Short, All My Best Friends Are Metalheads.

I think that was it. I don't think they played a single song off of In With The Out Crowd.

Goldfinger was the last band, and they always put on a good show.

The big one that comes to mind is the recent "This List". After John McCain's comments about staying in Iraq for 100 years if necessary, its easy to see why they support Obama.

Then there a lot more that make more social than political comments, but they all fit into the same general critique of our culture in my opinion. Issues like gun violence, drug abuse, and alcoholism come to mind. The explicit show of support for a candidate is a new direction for them as far as I know however.

So... one song? The rest seems like songs that a lot of non-political bands have talked about.

Update on BotAR and SM.

A few years ago, when BOTAR (Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution) released it's first (and so far only) record, there was a mention in the liner notes of a large project called "99 Songs of Revolution". This is a collection of 99 cover songs, spanning all kinds of genres, all kinds of artists. Now, a few years later, it's all going down. And here are the details. Some of them, at least.

The 99 Songs of Revolution Project will consist of 8 full length records. Two from SM, two from BOTAR, and two each from two other SM related groups. Yes, this is indeed the record that Victory mistakingly posted as coming out in Oct of 08. Not sure how they got that date, but it was never even a possibility. The first SM record for 99SOR will be out in early 2009, simultaneously with another of the 8 CDs (no, not the BOTAR one). Victory will be putting out the CDs and mp3s and Pentimento will be releasing and distributing the vinyl. We are aware of our reputation to take forever to release records and miss our self imposed deadlines, so we are not giving anyone solid dates, not even our labels. Early 09 release, that's it. We are, though, working hard on it. The demos are all but done and we head into the studio to begin tracking in October. Our upcoming tour schedule, as you know, is borderline impossible/insane, so cut us some slack.

This will be a nice way for us to get into the studio and put out some "new" music as well as tide you guys over until our next full length. It's been a project that's been on the back burner for too long, and it's time to do something about it. Stay tuned to this site as well as the Pentimento site for more info over the coming weeks. Also make sure to keep peeking in on our other sites, as we're in the middle of working on a few projects that have been dormant for way too long.

I'll probably be dead before these all come out.

About time for an Omaha area show. August 13th, :woop:

Has anyone seen "The Beat"' or "Hepcat" before? Are they any good?

Also, I see that RBF has abandoned all their real websites except for their myspace. Reel-big-fish links to their myspace and reelbigfish is bought by some other guy.

Ah man, asking if anyone has seen "HEPCAT" in quotes in a ska thread is depressing as gently caress.

:smith: I will have to get myself caught up. In my defense, 99% of the older ska bands don't come within 100 miles of the Omaha area.

Hey I don't mean this to come off as Elitist but Hepcat is AN AMAZING show. I consider seeing them as one of the great accomplishments of my life right along with seeing the Skatalites. Do yourself a favor and forget about seeing RBF and go see Hepcat. I think RBF would tell you the same.

They're going to be at the same show. I guess my post wasn't clear.

Earlier this morning, Streetlight Manifesto had a blog about why Tomas had a cast on his arm and a video to youtube, but the video was private then about an hour later the bulletin was deleted. :ninja:

Aaron swallowed a bug right as he began Ban the Tubetop last night. He had to stop and spit out the bug. Ha ha, good times.

Also, the english beat were awesome.

Really? I didn't see that... then again everybody was moshing me to the sides.

Still, it was loving awesome. However, being a minor at the Pageant sucks.

You know... I might have seen you there. Were you on the left or right side of the dance floor? Or were you not in there?

Also, Scott's voice goes REALLY high.

I may have been a day late in posting that. It was in Omaha/Council Bluffs. There were bugs loving everywhere.
