I actually really like Those drat Bandits a lot for something unpolished. It's not quite Kearbey Nights level but I like what they have to offer.

Although I used to hear this song on WFNX (RIP. 101.7 in Boston) a bunch.

In other news a lot of my friends have had lovely dealings with Victory. For a label with such good acts I almost couldn't believe the stories I heard about Brummel. Dude is such a terrible loving dude and I hope Victory goes bankrupt and he's found embezzling or something.

I feel like he's sort of a Dan Harmon type who is completely loving obsessed with his work and Victory, like Sony is loving with him in a big way. I can't imagine he's the best to work with but still the man can produce.

Big D has two records coming out soon

My friends worked on the Big D DVD (which we've been affectionately calling the Big DVD). It's got all music videos (there's easter eggs but I'm keeping my lips sealed) and a ton of live footage including small shows from a decade ago in Harvard Sq and a full Halloween show.

I remember going to that show. They had to bill themselves as the Gypsy Seven. OH MAN I HOPE IM ON THIS DVD.

After listening to THTT nonstop for what two weeks now I now have my own persnal HIGHLY CONTENTIOUS album ranking.

1. Everything Goes Numb
2. Somewhere in the Between
3. The Hands That Thieve
4. Kearbey Nights

I don't ~*hate*~ THTT but I also don't feel like it has the polish of the other two albums. Great songs and I'm happy to hear new stuff from them but it kind of seems like its all over the map whereas the first two are very much guided experiences

in other news The Hands that Thieve grew on me. I only listened to it two or three times when it dropped and wasn't interested but I've listened to the entire album minimum three times a day for the past week or so. They Broke Him Down and Your Day Will Come seem to be my favorites thus far.

Also I have fond memories of walking from the hotel to the Sonar, which is about 5 blocks and looking down a street after hearing some uh, fireworks and having a police RV screech up and block off the street. Which happened like 2 or 3 times over the weekend.

just get a two day visa and be done with it. Get a fat sandwich at the grease trucks night before, go to Harold's Deli for hungover lunch the next day boom done with NJ. You can get every other part of the NJ "experience" better somewhere else. somewhere else more respectable.
