10 on the dot for those Dillinger tickets, had them reserved, app crashed, tickets gone and sold out 1 minute later.

1. HOME FRONT - Games of Power
2. Initiate - Cerebral Circus
3. Gel - Only Constant

I saw Initiate open for Gel and they were both amazing. The more I listen to Cerebral Circus the more I like it. HOME FRONT is great too - best new band I've heard in forever.

Counterpoint: the Today’s Empires, Tomorrow’s Ashes remix/remaster is superior to the original in every conceivable way.

Ya like oh no the original recording still exists if you prefer it but with some albums the original mix is so bad having a new mix makes a good album much better. The recent remasters of the Replacements for example.

With angel hair the originals are lacking bass so badly.

The Blood Brothers - This Adultery Is Ripe (Full Album)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk01ThRpCd4

Does anyone have recommendations for an album like this that's come out from a band in the last ~10 years? I used to love their album Crimes as a youth and listened to this album (their first one) for the first time last night. It's interesting to hear a band be experimental and find their sound.

So I guess my question is: Does anyone have an example of a band finding their sound with something that isn't exactly fun to listen to (the not fun part is my focus kind of).. but they're trying different things and you listen to it and go "ohh that's what they were going for"? I really enjoyed listening to this album even though I don't think I liked it necessarily, but you can hear what they were eventually going to do and I'm looking for stuff like that if that makes sense.

Experimental albums.

I generally can't tell the difference, but I really like that Touche Amore re-recorded Dead Horse, because you can hear how much better they've gotten as a band.

The new Sunny Day Real Estate thing is a 30th anniversary re-recording of Diary with one new track, Novum Vetus, that was originally supposed to be on How It Feels To Be Something On. That song's coming out this Friday and the album's out in May.

They also announced a new tour, too:

The armed.

Every album is this crazy deep progression (the jump between album 1 These are Lights and album 2 Scum less so though) into what their sound is now.

I don’t agree with the not fun part for them, but the sound is so radically different you may feel that way.

Daughters is another.

Thrice's arc from The Artist in the Ambulance > Vheissu > The Alchemy Index* > Beggars is a very significant shift from a band who were possibly lined up to be the biggest act of the melodic hardcore scene in the early aughts to what they are today.

Vheissu to most people is either one of their best albums or a massive disappointment if you wanted Ambulance Pt.2. *The Alchemy Index is literally a 4 part experimental album (with some lasting, powerful singles). By Beggars they might be unrecognizable if their vocalist weren't so distinct. They carry forward a lot of pieces of many of their albums and influences today but I might argue that's kind of the "base" of their sound now.

Take this with the appropriate amount of salt from the dude with the Thrice avatar.

Tigers will do anything for a tuna sandwich.

And just for fun when you’re done with that you can listen to the re-recorded version of Artist they just put out last year and see how far that growth really went. Ignore the guest spots, they’re mixed so weirdly they might as well not be there, but it still goes hard and sounds good. I honestly might like it more than the original recording.

Nobody puts Phil in a corner.

I listened to Thrice way later than everyone else and I think Beggars is my favourite album quickly followed by Artist in the Ambulance and Vheissu close behind

I can see why Vheissu was so influential and huge though.
