Annihilation Time/Bow And Arrow/The lovely Limits in London on Sunday. Fun fun fun.

Not an Anthem posted:I'm jealous.. BUT this summer I'm following Annihilation Time's west coast tour dates. Def. jealous of Skitkids though, I need to get the new lp. Last time they were in the US we had a stagedive olympics with some awesome blind double stack backflips. You needn't have been jealous. Annihilation Time didn't make it into the country. Got turned back at customs.

Triangulum posted:Would you mind me asking what the motivation for going straight edge is? As an enthusiastic drug addict I find it somewhat baffling, especially making a lifestyle out of it. Used to drink, had a New Years Eve I could remember. Said the proverbial "I'm never drinking again..." and it kind of stuck. I don't really say I'm 'edge' in terms of anything other than using it as a shorthand for not drinking/smoking/doing drugs. Besides which, the entire xNamex thing just seems to be setting yourself up to fail. I'm not a good drunk, so I don't drink. Cigarettes are just dumb, and drugs don't really appeal. Fair play to you if you can do stuff like that and have fun, it's just not for me. Being honest, I prefer seeing more arguments about stuff like this rather than just: "I like band X." "I disagree, I prefer band Y." over and over again.

punxnbutter posted:I'm kicking around the idea of a black arm band with the germs circle. Doubt I'll do that when I have other stuff to do that isn't band related though. That sounds like a drat good idea. I've not got any tatts yet, but I've paid for my first one already, just need to figure out when I'm getting it done. It's going to be seven stars (not nautical stars) - one on each shoulder, three across the belt line on my back, back of left knee and back of right ankle. So it's the Orion constellation. Who actually puts on gigs anyhow?

Competition posted:Northampton. Close to London I know, but fuel is too much and I work funny shifts. Closest thing to a show I have seen here is that Stout were going to play, but cancelled. Ah, poo poo. Best I can do is say that Crash The Pose and Ray Reardon Youth played in Kettering once? There used to be some stuff going on in Leamington Spa, but I lost touch a bit with what's going on there. Also, BrainDead and Hangover Heartattack are both Leicester based, so they might be worth asking if there's anything still going on at the Shed (think that's what the venue was called).

I'm bored. What do people on here do in their local area? I'm involved in putting on gigs at a community centre - got into a good relationship with the committee and the local council, and we've got to the stage where we've got a backline that was funded by them, non-commercial hire rates, and access to the sports hall showers (which is very handy with touring bands). Book it either for shows I'm doing, or let other people book it through me so that it's easier.

To paraphrase Ulcer, "Is being a piece of poo poo your idea of being a punk?". Punks and Punx - there's a difference that's key over here. Punks are the lefty radical types, punx are the ones who think that smashing poo poo and claiming to be homeless is the way forward. What actually happened with this stabbing?

Not an Anthem posted:Its the party element to Summerfector 2, the fest I posted in Portland. Mostly involves a lot of drinking I think. The best part about the Summerfector flyer is at the bottom it says "leave your dogs at home," referring to the american phenomenon of lovely awful crusty traveler kids abusing dogs to garnish sympathy, so they can get more change when begging. Dammit, I was hoping it was something fun in Richmond. Looks like I'll be near Allentown at the end of August/start of September visiting folks. But yes, crusty traveller scumbags. Not really met any, but hate them anyway for getting the R5 fest shut down while I was over and had a ticket for Sunday. That was very annoying.
