All I've checked I think is the new mirrorthrone and Keep Of Kallesin, even though Gangrene didn't really catch me even as close to as much as Carriers of Dust, but eh. Weltenfeind, the split between Absurd, Grand Belial's Key and Sigrblot, finally got released and it's quite good. I'm particularly impressed by Absurd's contribution - it's the best they've sounded in years.

This is pretty straight-forward. Never try to reason with 18-year-old norsecore fanboys because they always know so much more about what happened in 1995 than you do and Varg is clearly a misunderstood genius, plus they can relate to him because living in their parents' basement is much like being sentenced to life in prison

On a related note, who the hell still buys and listens to Carpathian Forest? They turned into complete tripe after BSL and have just been going through the motions for almost a decade now. I've heard a couple of tracks from Nattefrost's solo effort and wasn't particularly surprised to discover that it sounds like leftovers from Carpathian Forest's recent albums.

I know I was a huge geek like everyone else here but the titles have that nice air of mystery and discovery that, say, RPGs had when you were like 12. It's embarrassingly bad, though, much like just about every other experimental side project (or intro or interlude) by a metal musician I've heard so far. It's amazing how little ambience he has managed to pack into what's apparently supposed to be ambient music.

The new Gorgoroth album sounds so incredibly plastic. A proper Grieghallen style production would've done wonders (are Pytten and his studio even around anymore?). Also checked out Ov Hell. The first song is just terrible. It sounds like they snatched random riffs from Snorre Ruch's bin of things that did not turn out that good and asked someone to tap dance to them. The other song drones on and on without any points of interest until it actually gets kinda good at the end.
