So i got really bored today and decided to make something terrible. http://files.totallynotgayporn.co.uk/Sentralvarme.7z It's not supposed to be serious, the vocals are supposed to have too much delay on them, but really, any tips would be good.

Plasma1010 posted:My tip is to actually get serious and it does have potential. Heh, ta, but i just can't take it seriously whatsoever. I've been listening to black metal for the past 15 years or so and i just can't find it as anything but silly. I'm not too keen on the synths at the start either, i didn't really want to cut them, and they fit during the rest of the track, but i'm a little at a loss with what to do with them in the intro, i might dredge through my vsts and see if i can find anything worthwhile to replace them with. As for being a dude with a myspace band, this is what i've been doing for ages now, and i'm pretty comfortable with it. It's not something i interest in persuing live and such, at least not black metal, i just make whatever the mood takes me for fun and practice.

This is entirely DIY so I don’t have any means to get it into a streaming service without paying through the butt on some exploitative sounding aggregator. You can always stream it through the bandcamp or soundcloud apps I guess. Edit: gently caress it, shoved it through an aggregator and should, approval pending, be heading to all your favourite shopfronts whenever they let me know. Resting Lich Face posted:Sound of Mind: Interesting introduction track. Vocals are neat. Not particularly standalone as a track but as part of the whole it works. The "vocals" are actually the audio of the exorcism of Anneliese Michel. It's just an intro track that set the tone for the making this EP. Resting Lich Face posted:Seasons Past: I like the sharper tones in this one a hell of lot. My only complaint is it's just 3 minutes long! I was like "what do you mean it's over?!" I didn't have much more for this track beyond that big octave / tritone chug, I feel if it went on much longer (maybe I could've gotten away with one more phrase) it would've been way too repetitive, but I'm surprised with how it turned out myself, to be honest. Resting Lich Face posted:Great album. Take my $6.66. A must for my collection. Thank you for sharing. Hey, no problems, glad you enjoy it!

Siivola posted:Yeah just scream about your groceries instead of all that gross poo poo. I might legit do this. I've stopped publishing lyrics to my last EP, because there's something comforting about releasing my material without scrutiny of the exact wording of the lyrics. It covers trans rights, gender fluidity, eating the rich, seeking help with mental health, anxiety, and getting old. The first comment I got on my first EP on facebook was someone asking why I explicitely stated it was anti-fascist, and I realised I'm too old and too much of a hobbyist to deal with weird eastern european fascists.

my bony fealty posted:a good answer The term is RABM, if you want the term it goes by right now, Red and Anarchist Black Metal. Most blackened crust kinda goes this way too, what with crust punk being pretty heavily left wing. Iskra Iskra are basically the biggest and best known RABM bands, agressive, punk infused blackened crust. Storm of Sedition Storm of Sedition basically came out of the end of Iskra and has several members doing their own thing. Explicitely anti-civ / an-prim in politics, but it's a loving good sound. Leper Leper are a weird one. I think they're borne of the same scene as Iskra and Storm of Sedition, but they have some ska in their sound too. It's weird, personally I like it, but I think it's really really niche. Whether it even counts as black metal is up in the air, it's definitely blackened crust though. Dawn Ray'd These guys are phenominal, a 3-piece who have been gathering a shitload of support these days as kind of the face of explicitely anarchist black metal. Martyrdöd Ok, this is d-beat / crust through and through, but this definitely has some black metal down in there somewhere, and are a good band who you should listen to anyway. Ancst More blackened crust and, to be honest, I've only just really been getting into their stuff, and it is good times. And there's a whole bunch more with lefty themes, Panopticon as you mentioned, as well as bands like Wolves in the Throne Room who cover lefty topics, environmentalism, and so on, without necessarily being explicitely political music. In the same way that not all fash bands are explicitely NSBM bands, and they hide their message behind plausable deniability of being misanthropic, folklorish-nationalistic, or just using fantasy as an allegory, there's also a scene of left wing musicians doing the same with their message. Coven of the Pestilent One Oh, and I am a shameless piece of poo poo and this is my band and it is entirely left-wing, covering topis I mentioned above, anti-fascism, anti-capitalism, feminisim, trans rights, mental health and so on.

Its really loving me off that I've scrapped all my currently recorded vocals because I can't mix them well for poo poo. I just can't make them fit in the mix, I'm not sure if it's just the poo poo mic and acoustics of where I'm recording that's causing the issue, or just the general dislike of my own recorded voice. So here's a bonus instrumental track from whatever the gently caress I'm working on at the moment. https://soundcloud.com/pestilent-one/corrosion-11-bonus

Bertrand Hustle posted:I really like your vocals on the stuff you've already released Cheers It's really a case of not having ample time to write and practice vocals, on account of doing most of my work at night with a toddler sleeping upstairs. Couple that with an inherent dislike of the sound of my own voice, and less-than-ideal recording situation means I'm not happy with it. Anyway, I'm setting myself a deadline of the start of August to get this poo poo done, I've been sat this release for too long, I'm happy with the songs, they just need some shouts. In not me news, Storm of Sedition dropped their new album just the now. https://stormofsedition.bandcamp.com/album/howl-of-dynamite They share members with the likes of Iskra and Leper, if I remember right, and it's some pretty dang nice lefty black metal / blackened crust.
