Hello sew masters! I have very little experience sewing with a machine. I can sew patches and pillows and easy stuff like that, but nothing very complex, and my stitching is pretty half-assed. I was thinking of picking up a used machine at a garage sale or something, and keeping it around for various tasks. One of which is to make bike knickers! Basically, the idea is to take a pair of pants and hem them about calf length, like capris, but slightly higher. Is this a fairly easy task for a novice like myself to undertake, or should I take them to the tailoring shop down the street? How much would a tailoring shop typically charge for such a menial task? Thanks!!
