I remember reading something, possibly a short story, that had a male character named Guard. I think it was a sort of Great Gatsby-ish book, possibly the same era. Probably written between 1900 and 1950, or whenever someone might actually be called Guard. Unfortunately this makes it impossible to search for. Anyone happen to have come across this?
