What would be the most reasonable and/or cost effective way to use my Boss Katana to output bass to a speaker that is safe to play bass on? I played on it with headphones and it's awesome, but I don't want to play games wrt blasting the speaker out of it or whatever.
I'd be fine with still needing to play at lower volumes, as it's just practice in the house. I figure if I could do this cheaper than a little practice amp it would be a no brainer; those effects are fun.

Just play it through the Katana speaker. You're not going to hurt it unless you manage to push it way too hard. Your ears will tell you that's happening well before you cause any damage.

A speaker only cares about the amount of power going in. Frequencies only matter wrt how well the speaker can reproduce them.

I think the trouble people get into with bass though guitar speakers is pushing the whole rig too hard since bass frequencies need more power to reach the same apparent volume as a guitar. So they keep turning up and up until either the amp or speaker shits itself.

It was $1500 in 1999. According to a guy a decade ago, he would have appraised it in the $5-$6k neighborhood due to the obvious one-off prototype poo poo from Ned Steinberger's apartment. He also said it could go higher to the right weirdo collector.

It has followed me throughout my life, and never once have I considered selling it. I'll hold onto it forever.

If it wouldn't take such a beautiful instrument out of circulation, I'd want to be buried with it. Which would be difficult, wanting to be cremated and all. :derptiel:

I just thought of a good use for the empty electronics bay.

Back in the 90s I had a Hohner licensed Steinberger knockoff. When the thread stripped out of one of the tuners we had to get one of my dads mates, who was a fitter and turner, to machine a new one from scratch. I have no idea how we would have sourced a replacement otherwise.

Just one if you bolt a kick plate and some rollers to the bottom of the rear panel, with a handle at the top.

Thoughts on halfwounds?

I have a PJ

I've tried them but found them to be the worst of both worlds. Dead sounding (in a bad way) and uncomfortable to play.
