Mad Momma sale. I'm not sure if I love this, or hate it. It's interesting that's for sure. Kid talks back so the truck goes on Craigslist. http://jacksontn.craigslist.org/cto/3969178479.html http://imgur.com/KZd0FNJ Image not inlined to avoid breaking tables. Seems like something the people around here would do, at any rate. A hardcore religious bunch them. This kind of over the top discipline usually makes your kids despise you though. Citycop posted:That's funny because I bought a 2000 Ranger from a mad momma. Her son kept getting the car impounded so eventually she sold it for the tow fees ($1200). That was about 5 years ago and I'm still driving it to this day. I can see selling the kids car if they got caught racing or something. In this case I think it might be safe to say that Mad Momma is in reality Sociopathic Momma.

People do that because getting the factory engine repaired/replaced is much, much more expensive and there is a series of those cars that is bad to get completely utterly hosed because of the intermediate shaft bearing. Think of where the Cam on an air cooled VW engine is, on the Porsche engine there's a sort of jackshaft that drives the overhead cams and the bearings for it get hosed up, destroying the engine.

This generation was FWD and used the Taurus' AX4N transmission, which could barely deal with the weight and power of that platform and they put it in a bigger car with a bigger engine and didn't really do anything to improve it. The early versions of this automatic were so bad they suffered from geartrain meltdown: https://www.autosafety.org/ford-automatic-4-speed/ The transmission oil pump is inside the vertically mounted valve body and is driven by a tiny little bullshit washer with teeth cut into it in the torque converter body that always strips. Then you lose apply pressure for your clutch packs and bands, and you go no more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcE5fHZyn2M A bit off topic I suppose, but I had a 98 Taurus that was incredibly poo poo and I like to try to warn people away from cars that use it's terrible bits. The Vulcan V6's hilarious acceleration was described as being "Mad Vulcan Powah" on the Taurus Car Club forums. Yes - there is even a Ford Taurus forum - https://www.taurusclub.com/ They helped me figure out why the power steering would cut out, the radio would lose sound but the display would stay on, and some other malady I'm forgetting, all at once when I put the car in reverse. This turned out to be corrosion on the "Transmission range sensor" or what most makes call a neutral safety switch. Seems it was annoyingly common. The first time mine did it was definitely an "ok now what the gently caress car" moment. "taurus loses power steering in reverse" https://www.google.com/search?q=tau...chrome&ie=UTF-8 My memory of the Vulcan engine is that it would just make more noise when you gave it more pedal, you wouldn't get any more acceleration at all. It had one rate of acceleration and that was it.
