In this case, we have over $3,000 in the car, including the new engine, wiring and ECU ($900), the rollcage ($550) and all of the other race prep work. Was that "supercar" level horsepower in 1990? That 380hp was out of 5 liters. the BMW 5 liter v12 of the era made 295hp. the 5 liter v8 in the mustang was 225hp, and chevy was making a 5 liter v8 with 170hp. Remember, 500hp factory cars absolutely did not exist in 1990. The F40 was 471hp, and was the fastest production car at the time.

I haven't seen any new charger police cars yet, but i've seen a ton of Tauruses, and they look mean as hell. the only officer i've talked to had the n/a v6 and awd. It would be nice to see taurus SHO's with 160k kms going through auctions for 3k like the crown vics do, but i doubt anybody is going to order the turbos. edit: i've also noticed on them that the brakes completely fill the steelies front and rear, they're massive.
