A friend just posted this on Facebook:

quote:

Selling my '95 Eagle Talon TSI FWD 5-Speed.

Important - No joy rides. No Trades. Approx 160k miles. $5500 obo.

I literally got a job in Indy as I was finishing this project up. I just don't have room for it in Indy. Car has a brand new paint job (factory wildberry) with paint matched valve cover, intake, Intercooler piping and a couple of other engine accent pieces. Car was undercoated when it was painted as well. Car went straight to storage after being painted since I moved. This thing is immaculate.

Body mods / work done when it was painted -- shaved antenna, shaved and paint matched inner brake light, shaved rear spoiler, 2gb front bumper, 2gb brand new OEM style black housing headlights, smoked corner lenses and smoked taillights.

The bad - you WILL need DSM link. It's got a base tune on DSM link V2 right now, but I do not have the adapter to hook up to your computer to tune. This means that you will need it because if you have to change the battery or the battery gets drained you will need to put the tune back on it. I will supply you with a USB drive that contains the file for the tune in case this ever happens.

VR Speed Factory front mount and piping (< 100 miles)
Turbonetics Raptor BOV
New silicon radiator hoses (< 100 miles)
New Stant Radiator cap (< 100 miles)
New radiator and slim fans (< 100 miles)

Dejon Powerhouse intake (paint matched) (< 100 miles)
MAF Translator (< 100 miles)
EVO 8 Shift knob
Hallman manual boost controller (< 100 miles)
Innovate LC1 Wideband (< 100 miles)
Innovate Boost Gauge (< 100 miles)
14B turbo
Punishment Racing tubular exhaust manifold
Apexi N1 Downpipe
Thermal Catback Exhaust
Tokico Illumina adjustable shocks and springs
Rear camber kit (bolts and washers)
Prothane suspension bushings
Prothane motor mounts
Tie rod ends, lower control arms and upper control arms were all replaced about two years ago.
STM oil-sprung dipstick
STM EGR block-off plate
Starter replaced
Ebay oil catch can (< 100 miles)
ACT 2100 clutch kit
Fidanza flywheel
2g AWD front brake upgrade (bigger diameter rotor and dual piston calipers)
Socketed EPROM ECU
DSM link V2 chip (no adapter)
Greddy full auto turbo timer
K&N air filter (< 100 miles)
New Pioneer bluetooth Radio
Pioneer Speakers
New battery (< 100 miles)
New middle timing cover (not installed)
FIC 950cc Injectors (< 100 miles)
Walbro 255 w/ wiring kit (< 100 miles)
Fuel Lab fuel pressure regulator (< 100 miles)
New NGK plug wires and Plugs (< 100 miles)
Timing belt (gatorback) and balance shaft belt replaced
Slave cylinder replaced
Clutch master cylinder replaced

Please don't low ball me and I'll only set up appointments to serious buyers.

Needs tune, don't have adapter to do tune, this project is 99% done just needs the tune!

Though really, it's not a bad price considering the work put into it I suppose.

I think the R/T has bigger hubs and brakes too? I paid $800 bucks back then. Take the stripes off.

Actually, about how much do ACR and R/T Neons go for? I kinda want a cheap autocrossing car, but I don't think I can spare the cash for one until next year. Is $1500 a pretty standard price or what?

I think he was talking about this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sensotronic_Brake_Control

So if you don't have the dealer service tool, it could do fun things like cut a finger off while you're working on the brakes. Just disconnecting the battery doesn't help, as the SBC pump itself has it's own power supply. Later models are unaffected however, 2008 up I think.

Does that affect the older W210s though? I thought those had relatively simpler electricals. I haven't come across that in my research.

That was a lease, too, and our payment was about that, but only for three years. Including what we put down (I think $2500), I think it was a good enough deal. How you even sign up for however long that 'lease' is without some part of your brain wanting to do the math...

I'm about $5500 into mine and it's perfectly fine. $2800 for the car and $2600 for a full timing belt / water pump service. Came with new tires and a new battery. 97k miles, interior is mint, most everything works. Changed the oil and replaced the hood struts and wiper blades. The deals are out there, you just have to be patient.

edit: Mine's not a turbo or an S2, those are 10k for a running one, yeah.

Though if prices are going up like they are with other Porsches, maybe not for long.

There's a book printing company that shut its doors because the elderly owner died and his kids didn't want anything to do with it, so they're getting rid of everything cheap. A buddy of mine just spent $60 on about $600 worth of Craftsman Tools. They have (not yet listed) a '65 Lincoln Continental, lady says she'll list it at 5500. I'm gonna go there and see what kind of stuff they have.

Estate sales can be so awesome, at work we recently purchased a massive lot of collectibles and when I did some poking around I discovered there was an entire house worth of stuff that was divided into lots. One of my friends ended up getting a garage full of stuff for $2000 and there was so much useful poo poo in there. He picked over what he wanted and garage saled/craigslisted the rest and made almost his entire investment back. Too late we found out there were several cars that went for under a grand each.

A coworker went over there and they have some, uh, other stuff in there that they're getting rid of. I need to know much. Could be a hugely awesome barn, uh, warehouse find.
