The ones with an airbag have kind of a hump where the little tray was. The hilarious part is that apparently the space between the between the hump and the windshield was the right size and shape so that if the passenger wasn't wearing his seatbelt during an accident, his head could get wedged into the gap.  So GM had a recall and came up with an even bigger hump-piece that they would install on top of where the airbag was to plug up the gap.
