Untitled can mean one of three things:

1) Some previous owner lost the paper title and the current owner bought it that way. It's possible to have the state print a new one but usually a gigantic pain in the rear end.

2) The current owner owes a pile of money on it and doesn't feel like repaying. The lienholder (HSBC/GMAC/your local credit union) is the actual owner of the vehicle, and you won't be able to register it until they are paid off.

3) It's stolen.

Question: Do I run any risks by messing with craigslist scammers? As in, I listed my motorcycle, got a scam email asking me to accept a certified check and forward the balance to the shipping agency. Should I give a fake name and my address just to mess with them, or not even bother?

I have a Saab 900 for sale. I received as a gift from and Uncle as a gift but the car really isn't my style. It drives great though, and the car is a classic. The odometer on the car has stopped working, but the engine has no more than 100,000 miles on it. It stopped at 84,000 march of this year. The inside is clean and is in fair condition. If it's true that the car "would be perfect with just a little TLC!" then you would have done it already. You're going to get lowballed by every single prospective buyer and it will be a huge waste of everyone's time.
