Seems like it might be harder on an old car like that. You could always just rip out the lock cylinder and hardwire a start button.

Given the amount of dumb mods he listed it's very likely there's even more he's not talking about (or that have been removed), or the car is just plain thrashed and those pictures are five years old. Either way I would expect the engine to sound like an old diesel pickup when you start it.
