You couldn't, legally. But Motorex was importing a bunch of Skylines other than the years they actually had documentation for, before they were caught. The government basically said they weren't going to go after those cars. And people have managed to sneak them in on their own without getting caught, and then find either permissive or ignorant local DMVs which will allow them to title and register the cars.

So while that is a scam, and they aren't LEGAL here, it isn't impossible to get one in the US.
