We got them from there at about $75 (Aussie $$) per square meter (4 tiles). The shape still needs to be adjusted a little to fit the actual recipient, and I need to do some more polishing, but overall I think it turned out pretty well for my first one

Builded me a patio in the summer: 1. The planning. Estimated the pavers and base material using areas, but counted the wall blocks because they're not cheap. Thanks Sketchup.  2. The digging. All by hand because I figured renting a digger would have cost more money in the long run taking into account lawn repairs.  3. The Laying. Base, then bricks, then more base, then more bricks.  4. Presto-changeo, done! Gave it a splash of water for this pic for that glossy centerfold look.  I made sure to make a deep and compact base, so I hope the frost doesn't move it too much. All in all, it was about 8 man-days in work (Thanks, bro).

I'm (slowly) refurbishing an old greywater pit used on my mother's kitchen drain line. Last year I replaced all of the pipes under the house, which were completely rusted through. This year I replaced a section of drain line outside the house, which was clogged with tree roots. These are photos of the old and new pipes, respectively. There was a 2" diameter root growing in the drain line. The pipe in this picture was completely filled with dirt. The moral of this story is that, if you ever do any plumbing work, those pipes at Home Depot with the little holes in them are for leach fields only, not for drain lines.

this is a sound chip from a sega master system hooked up to an AVR microcontroller. It is taking midi in from ableton live and playing some back. This is what you get with a lot of random electronics and bored fraternity guys hoping to get engineering degrees (some of them are goons, which helps): Click here for the full 800x600 image. We had to take apart a whole bunch of old sound systems, and run amps to each of those car subs. Then we messed around with the two receivers and use them for power as well. You can hear it from outside of our house and it gets the people dancing. Not nearly as cool or as useful as some of the other stuff in this thread, but it's recycling at its best. Put together the Univox Superfuzz clone kit from Build Your Own Clone. I've only worked with PCBs once or twice before and love it. So much faster. Kits don't leave me as satisfied with the finished product but holy hell are they easier and more reliable.  Beyonce and my cat shirt show off the finished product. It's loving monstrously thick, like a Big Muff but with a slight octave. I guessed Pete Townshend used this thing on a bunch of The Who recordings, like Live at Leeds.

^^^ What did you do to color the upper left hand pin? Or is that just discoloring from cutting the metal? It looks interesting.  I built another robot "Forknife 2" that is controlled by my android G1 phone. This one is controlled using the tilt sensors in the G1 phone. It can also chop/grip stuff, and streams live video to the phone. http://macpod.net/misc/forknife2/forknife2_video.php The Surveyor Corporation sent me a unit to make an android app for them after they saw the first Forknife robot I made that is in this thread. They are driving around a blimp with their G1.

Our next project after the floors was to work on our kitchen. When we bought the house the kitchen was like this. We hated the countertops, and didn't really dig the "country feel", though we loved the cabinets.  The plumbing and electrical is a bit of a mess here, but most of this was replaced or updated somehow.  We ordered countertops, but I pulled out the existing ones, because it's apparently a $400 job to have someone else do it. ($400!)  Everything out.  It was a great time to paint with the countertops out.  Countertops were put in. These are going to be great.  It took us about forty seconds to be sick of that color, this is much better.  New sink, faucet, and hot water on demand tap.  Which means that french press coffee is only four minutes of brewing time away. This is going to be sweet!  Edit: I did the plumbing work, electrical work for the water heater, demo, painting etc myself. I suppose it could look like we hired the whole thing out. I built this AV tower out of gable louvers, steel tubing, steel angle, and pieces of glass. I've always had a really strong desire to make furniture out of metal, although I don't really have any metal working skill or artistic talent to speak of.
