Uh, what about Jeepsters, Jeepster Commandos and Commandos?

They made a variant of that model for 23 years, seems like it'd be worth mentioning.

I demand recognition for the ugly duckling of the Jeep Family:

I'm gonna say that to own and KEEP an older Jeep you have to have some sort of sickness. You overlook all the bad and you love that goddamn thing more than any other single thing on Earth.

They ride terrible, they are sometimes cranky or down right temperamental, you always wind up spending way more money than you should, but there are the days, those glorious goddamn days when that loving Jeep makes you smile more than the best and most drugs you could possibly take.

Haha, YES.

Why the hell would I dump nearly all my money and a significant portion of my free time the last 6 years restoring then dieseling an old Jeep that is uncomfortable, problematic, ugly, loud, slow, too cold in the winter, too hot in the summer?

For that one time I drove into the summer sunset on a winding country road with the top off and the wind in my hair. I will never forget it.

So you finally swapped in a diesel? Why no project thread? I demand more pictures! :argh:

And it's not ugly by the way. :swoon:

Yes, I dropped in a 3.9L Isuzu Turbodiesel (4BD1T), a GM 700r4 auto, and a NP241 transfer case.

The swap was hard, but not un-doable. It just required a whole lot of $$$ and fabrication. The biggest issues were ALL clearance issues.

I'll work on a project thread, but I lost a lot of the in-progress pictures, unfortunately.
