More chapters!

Filesizes are pretty huge though, kind of annoying. At least it means high-res manliness!

For what it's worth, Askelad is probably taken from a prominent figure in Norwegian folktales, Askeladden, who is the young hero of several stories. It's hard to see any real resemblance to the character in Vinland saga however. More interesting is perhaps the term askeladd, likely originating from the tales, which means "someone who experiences an unexpected and fantastic career".

Chapter 61 is out. Despite having no real fighting, it was much more interesting than the past few chapters.

New Chapter

Things are moving along pretty fast it seems. Needs more pages though, only 21 pages once a month isn't enough.

YouTuber posted:

I don't get how Einar, who is an English slave, has a Norse name. Who is he supposed to be based off of historically?

I don't know if Einar's supposed to be based on anyone, but using the historical characters as reference the manga takes place after 1000AD, while significant norse presence in England through the Danelaw started with the capture of Northumbria at 867 AD (thanks wikipedia!), whose borders continuously expanded and contracted over the years. After 130+ years I'd assume there were quite a few british families with norse descendance but not under the rule of the danish king.

Anyway the chapter was really good!
