Took a trip around Philadelphia Art Museum last Sunday. The place was so crowded with tourists and wedding parties so had to wait a while for the steps to clear. Meanwhile dozens of people posed on and near the bikes. It was a nice trip, but definitely doing it on a weekday next time around.

Mine is the filthiest one without flags and other poo poo

It's an '86 Intruder VS700. Suzuki produced it virtually unchanged until ~2005, only upping the displacement to 800cc. Very light and nimble for a cruiser. Other bikes are 750 Shadow VL-something and Yamaha Vstar 1100. My bike is actually the quickest of the bunch :)

The shocks are amazing, best dollar to comfort ratio on a bike, period. They are 5 way adjustable and I actually soften them up for long highway trips and stiffen 'em back up for city or 2up riding. Also, I have a Corbin gunfighter seat on order. It's about 1" higher and comes highly recommended by Intruder forums. After that is a set of Progressive fork springs. But that'll probably wait till spring.

Yay, new bike. I'll clean it up and get better pictures later. Rode it home last night, about 70 miles. Wouldn't be too bad, except it dropped below 50 and I definitely wasn't dressed for it. That little windscreen helps a ton. And it comes with a loving cupholder.

I've always wondered, on a scale of 1 - 10, how much wind do those fairings block out?
It blocks everything up to about my eye level. It's my first bike with any sort of fairing and it feels great. The most important thing is that it extends over the grips. My fingers would have been in a world of pain on that ride home otherwise

I have 550lbs bike with 50hp on the best of days, and it's faster than 99% of vehicles on the road already. Maybe it's because I'm an old man at 35 and worry more about the low range torque, comfort and general ease of use, that I haven't really been in a situation where having more power would have solved anything. It's a matter of opinion of course, but the discussion about MOAR POWAR in something that supposed to be transportation first and foremost, seems rather unnecessary. It irritates me, when people are throwing around general statements and telling everyone just how fast a motorcycle, or any mode of transport should be. Or where are the limits of "fast" and "slow" are. That varies from person to person and is always, without exception, only a matter of someone's opinion, often arrogantly presented as a fact. Take a ride in a proper drag car sometime, most street bikes will feel slow by comparison.

Its probably a conversion. It is a real popular thing for people to do after they drop the bike the first time. Its easier to buy a headlight from a GS500E than it is to buy an expensive set of fairings.

Or some people just don't want their bike looking like a jet ski

How's the suspension travel in the rear? It looks just as low as my Shadow and that poo poo is awful. Was eyeing up the Scout as potential upgrade, but feel really conflicted now. And congrats, it's a gorgeous bike. Best color too.

It costs 40% more than Bolt or Shadow and has more than twice horsepower. It's competing with 1200 Sportster and low tier Dynas. Metric cruisers are not exactly dominate the market in the US for anyone to cross shop them with Indian.

Anyway yeah even for regular paint I'd be taking panels to a specialist a couple at a time.
Search ebay for chrome warp. It's pretty cheap

What a pretty, pretty bike.

Could someone explain the advantage of having a small displacement 4 stroke 4 cylinder engine? It has the same weight and amount of moving parts as a literbike, but much less power and torque...

Uh, no. For instance, a CBR250RR weighs 41kg less than an early 90s Fireblade.
I don't know what either of those are, just talking about the engine. The casing looks physically similar, I'm assuming they are being reused in some capacity. It's cbr250rr a 4 cylinder 250cc?

They're very fun bikes, very smooth, and just the right power/weight ratio for street riding. Plus they're bomb proof, there are regularly some on sale with 50k kms on the clock. And like others have said, they're learner legal.
Thanks, I tried searching for dyno charts, but google is cluttered with CBR250R stuff. Found just one, 44HP, no torque to be found. They're not sold in my neck of the woods, but sounds like a fun bike to putz around on.

What's the problem, rusty appearance? Do they compress evenly? If yes, put on new pads and go. If not, look up a rebuilt kit. It can't be over 100 for parts.

This bike is everything I thought it would be and more. Could easily see myself keeping it forever. Especially since I paid as much as what they're asking for a Boneville.

I'm a bit on a fence about those chrome fenders. There are smaller and nicer replacements available, so maybe later. Looks are not priority right now, I'm concerned about storage space, wind protection and prolonged seating comfort. Plan on doing some light touring, any upgrades will be removable.

There is already a cult-like following, especially in Japan. Some gorgeous upgrades and replacement parts. If I ever feel like replacing all body parts with billet aluminium, it's actually an option, ha
