ICWXP is the king. A total ripoff of MST3K but it's really well done (except for a few lame host segments). And no syncing to do.
The recent Night of the Lepus one is really great but you have to track down Night of the Lepus. I also like Quiptracks' riffs.

I'm biased as head writer for Riff Raff Theater, but try us out. I think our best work is still Speed.

Yeah, a few of them are. RiffRaff Theatre is solid, any of their riffs are pretty great. The Superman 4 riff is fantastic too, easily up to the standard of the boys. Just stay away from everything else. Also the 'winner' of the iRiff competition 'the Lion King' by 'ThatGuyWithTheGlasses' is loving terrible so avoid at all costs.

It's so sad that DrAshen is now working with them, cos damnit he's funnier than all of them.

Thanks! I wish we could afford to hire writers, but if you'd like to get some of your jokes out there, we're currently accepting scripts for Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door (English dub).

Thanks a lot! Actually, I, Robot (with Chris, Todd, and Danuuc) and Star Trek Voyager: Heroes and Demons (with Todd, me, and another newcomer named Brian) are recorded and ready. Unfortunately, uploading is still disabled at iRiffs.com. But when it comes back, you can look forward to those.

Next RiffTrax is John Travolta's Boy in the Plastic Bubble!

http://www.slantmagazine.com/film/feature/interview-rifftrax/230

quote:

MN: We're doing the John Travolta TV movie The Boy in the Plastic Bubble.

KM: 1976.

BC: It's an amazing little artifact of American history.

KM: He wears the same shorts that teenage girls are wearing now—the really tiny, little disturbingly short shorts. Throughout the whole movie.

MN: And America is going to fall in love with Paul Williams all over again. [KM laughs] The music of Paul Williams, that is.

And it's gonna be the full video, pre-synched too.

Not that great actually. Lots of stale references that aren't related to what's happening on the screen, missed opportunities, etc. They need to start riffing what they want to riff and not what the fans want them to riff.

Now these guys, on the other hand...

I've been using Thrifty's guide to reauthoring the riffs onto a DVD, which has been working out pretty good so far - except I find that sometimes the movie drowns out the riffs or the riffs might drown out the quieter parts of the movie. Anyone know how to get around this? In the guide, he makes an offhand reference to using autoduck in Audacity, but never gets into details on how to use it, so any advise would be appreciated.

Audacity 1.3.9 (that's my version right now) or better
1. Make sure the riff is on the bottom, movie audio on top
2. Select the region of the movie audio to duck
3. Select Effect -> Auto Duck
I set Duck amount to -20, Threshold to -40, everything else default or smaller

One quick google search for "At Your Fingertips: Sugar and Spice" turns up mainly a couple of public showings that Oddball Film+Video (based in San Francisco) did of it. They only do mp3's for kickstarter goals now. Sometime after the live shows, we're getting Batman v Superman, the first episode of Westworld, the red wedding episode of Game of Thrones, and Mothra. (They had more stretch goals for Star Wars 8 and it's a Wonderful Life but it looks like we didn't meet them)
Clearly mp3's don't pay their bills but I'm glad they at least do a few a year for kickstarter season.
