I can't stop listening to the Nier Automata soundtrack. Very likely to be one of the best video game soundtracks ever made, like, top five. Almost every single track is a gorgeous piece of music in its own right and many can be played outside of the game. The ones I keep returning to though, are the variations of Weight Of The World. It's so god drat beautiful, and is only amplified by the context of the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Egn_VNVKzI4&hd=1 the ultimate medley combining every version of it up to and including a hacking minigame version as the intro to it is so loving good. It's so. loving. good. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmmrKK2GD6g&hd=1 Don't read the comments because they're jam-packed with spoilers, of course.

I can listen to this song all day and it will lift my spirits up every time and get my head bobbin'. It's also the song that introduces the Japanese Big Brother-alike, Terrace House(which I've never watched, but hear is good). Lights Follow (Matthew Heath and Grady Griggs) - SLOW DOWN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQI5XzQsl3U&hd=1 and was used in this, which is where I first heard it: https://twitter.com/mattmcmuscles/status/845640825715462144

I saw an animation using the first half of Bo Burnham's Welcome to the Internet and the loving thing has been stuck in my head for a week now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k1BneeJTDcU every time I try to go to sleep it kicks in. I've noticed this sort of "can't get a song out of my head" thing tends to happen way harder when I'm having severe anxiety, which super doesn't help! At least it's a funny song and not, uh, loving Komm Susser Tod which was one of the ones I could not stop thinking of during a previous anxiety episode. through a circuitous path from recommended videos, I found myself at Yona Yona Dance, a song and music video apparently designed by a 72-year-old former japanese-korean pop star from the 70s, in collaboration with Frederic, a more modern pop singer. it's an unorthodox melody but maybe that's why it's been stuck in my head a lot lately. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zh-4M5blbiI&hd=1 which then led me to some covers, both of which are good in their own ways. apparently the first one when she became a vtuber did not think she could sing, but she's not bad. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEvh8XRjvY4&hd=1 Same for this one, seems Temmie Chang was nervous about singing at all, but gave it a go and animated the entire video herself too. Not bad! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kE3zWW0zaRw&hd=1

Mori Calliope usually does high energy rap but she's an incredible emotional singer too, had End of a Life in the back of my mind for a while now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BXB26PzV31k&hd=1 moments before the premiere of the MV ended, she posted in the livestream premiere chat quote:"It’s okay to feel sad when one story ends. It’s also okay to keep remembering it happened. Thanks for listening, everyone." EVO was last weekend and the intro song to the top 6 for Street Fighter 6, RUNBACK CITY, is such an unbelievable bop that I hope against hope that they somehow get it put into SF6 proper because it's SO loving HYPE, it's been stuck in my head all week https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DrscZZdWnE&hd=1 Captain Invictus has a new favorite as of 23:51 on Aug 11, 2023 |

it started with this wonderful little Factorio fan animation that has way, way too few views for how good it is(flashing lights warning) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gvAeZDiLG8&hd=1 which tuned me onto a Neil Cicierega remix I had not heard yet, Space Monkey Mafia, a mix of We Didn't Start the Fire with End of the World as We Know It https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEYc8ar2Bpw and it's been stuck in my head for a week. especially the titular part. another one that's been stuck in my head recently is this remix of Departure, from Megaman Zero 2. the intro just leads into it so absolutely perfectly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3jQ6skEhFs&hd=1 Megaman games have such incredible music, and it's never stopped being the case.

I've had this ridiculously silly power metal song stuck in my head for weeks now, the animation for the music video is so good that I've wound up watching it dozens of times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeROS92-BsM&hd=1 and now I've just had the stupid lyrics of "ZARGOTHRAX, MASTER OF NIGHTMARES, KEEPER OF CELESTIAL FLAME" and "HE WIELDS THE LASERBLASTER, DARK LORK OF DUNDEE"and "HE'S A SORCEROR, NEFARIOUS, WITH EYES THAT BURN LIKE FIRE" manifest into my brain whenever I'm watching something and I hear someone be like "who's that" or "who is he" etc apparently the band's song lyrics are telling the story of their D&D campaign or something, which, yeah, that tracks with how absolutely doofy the lyrics are

Babe Magnet posted:gloryhammer has like 4 albums of their weird little story they've been telling for about 11 years now, it's all really loving stupid but the musicianship is sound and a lot of their songs are catchy. It's less a D&D campaign and more just a fantasy version of one specific town in Scotland (Dundee), which is now the entire galaxy. I have listened to some impressively stupid, stupid loving songs in my day, so goofy lyrics don't bother me so long as the jams are catchy a track I've been listening to on loop is one that's got only 3k views, by a young musician named Yell0. it's a remix of the track A CYBER'S WORLD? from Deltarune, and it's a just a huge Vibe, especially at around the 2:48 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoDR5Y5k_vQ&hd=1 Captain Invictus has a new favorite as of 23:16 on Apr 1, 2024 |
