REQUEST: Infinite Undiscovery I managed to muscle through Lost Odyssey's pitiless child drama, but as soon as I got control of Capell in IU the first thing I come across are a pair of cute blue eyed babbys - is it worth struggling through? If so, what are some general pointers? Lost Odyssey Explore as much as possible - level up as much as possible until you hit the 'cap' for that area. Try to make it so your immortals are learning mortals' skills as efficiently as possible, and note that towards the end of the game you'll be required to use all the characters at least once - so don't leave them too far behind. Also, use a guide for the two Eastern Tribe temples - trust me.

Since I've been playing DeadSpace pretty much non-stop for the last 48 hours: 1) Most of the time the only ammo drops will be for guns you have equipped. So if you have a Plasma Cutter and Line gun, you'll get ammo for each. If you have four weapons but only use two, you're going to pick up alot of 'useless' ammo. 2) Regardless of appearances, there is no real time limit to any part of the game - don't stress so hard. 3) Ensure that you upgrade your primary weapon and suit before secondary weapon/ stasis/ kinesis.

I'm getting a PS3 for X-mas and am getting it with two games - so, what do I need to know for Valkyria Chronicles and/or Little Big Planet? Though I imagine the thread is applicable for the former more than the latter!

Gears of War 2 I've played #1 before and I'm just in the opening minutes of #2 - I want to bag as many achievements as I can on my play through without any major spoilers. I'm playing on Hardcore difficulty. Good/bad guns/tactics/etc. would be appreciated!

IcePotato posted:I'm struggling through Disc 2 of Lost Odyssey (360) and so far, the quality seems to be much worse than Disc 1 in terms of more boring fights and more stupid melodrama. Can someone give me reassurances about the general quality of the game from here on out? Are any neat new gameplay mechanics introduced after, say, the treasure hunter minigame? In all seriousness, L.O. is one of my favorite JRPGs of all time - it does ebb and flow and I'm not sure of what exactly is going on during Disc 2, but I can tell you 100% that it's worth hanging on for. As a non-spoiler piece of advise, don't leave characters too far behind, level-wise - there is a quest tree for each character near the end-game to get their super skill/equipment which requires them to be there, and towards the end you need to use all those which remain in your party.

Fight Night Round 4 advice (rather than glitches or game breaking strategies) would be awesome, I played FN3 for ages but ended up doing it on an easy difficulty and now this game is kicking my rear end.

Any advice at all for Blue Dragon, Prince of Persia or Skate 2? I gave up on Blue Dragon the first time 'round after falling into a cave right near the start..

Don't want to bug, but seriously, Blue Dragon? I want to give it a go since I'm off work next week but got distracted after I dropped into the first cave - is there a key to making it interesting, does it get better, what should I be aiming for?

Medals in Uncharted 1 & 2: I've played through Uncharted 1 and finished it, and I'm not sure how the medals for weapon usage work. From what I can tell kill-counts for each weapon do not reset upon death (since I went through a section and died, reloaded and went through the same section getting an X-kills with Y-weapons medal). Is this correct? What about reloading chapters and playing them through again? Does this contribute to the x-kills count or do I need to do starting from zero at the point of selecting a chapter?

Can someone give me a pants-on-head combat tip for Witcher 3? I'm using Oils and signs compatible so that's not a problem but just a general 'what do I need to know to not suck at combat because I keep getting damaged and whiffing' would be amazing.

Right-click click to lock, A to roll and B to dodge? When should I parry (L2?)

OK so I've applied a few of the tips here and they have helped greatly, a couple more: 1) I have used mind control on mobs and they get stunned, but I can barely get close to them before it wears off - Geralt's 'stalking the prey' movement while in combat makes it almost impossible. Do i just make a mad dash for them? 2) Is the only option for those blocking bad-guys to parry them or dodge and slash? 3) How do I enable the alternate modes? For example flame thrower just does a sheet of flame. EDIT: I'm not sure how one could specialise in magic, I get one cast of a sign out about every 10s???

So I have 5/5 light attack and 3/5 dodge damage mitigation currently - I guess I need to level up for other slots to open because right now I've just got space for two?HOOLY BOOLY posted:So what about Dark Souls 2:Scholar of the First Sin? and i haven't played the original game since the first DLC came out for originally. Turns out they weren't kidding with "new enemy placements" as i ran into a dragon trying to go fight Old Dragonslayer anything in particular i should know? It seems to be different enough and i'm kind of out of practice at this point that i feel i should ask. Not particularly, there's nothing wildly different other than some item locations and NPC invaders. if you're going in blind just make sure you up your ADP stat to get AGI to 98 (?) for a servicable roll, and then spec on whatever you want. Keep a non-elemental weapon handy and bows are pretty useful for Iron Keep. Southern Heel fucked around with this message at 12:38 on Nov 4, 2015 |

X-Com Enemy Within - I'm about mission four or five into this game, and it just seems unbelievably difficult. I am presently assaulting an alien base, I have a sniper, heavy and support guy and two mooks - there are trios of chrysalids who can kill 1.5 dudes per turn and then turn them into zombies. The Chrysalids have got 8 HP or so and zombies 10 HP, and the most damage I can possibly do is around 6-7 per turn. I managed to get past the first section after a few reloads but I'm in a room with 2 beam drones, 2 stealth guys and 3 chrysalids and it just seems completely impossible. Is it the intent for me to fail this/some/most missions including having my 'best' guys die? Is it the intent to save and reload multiple times for the perfect execution?

OK, I didn't realise I could hold off - it is portrayed that you must attend to missions in order to avoid panic, etc. - I killed 23 aliens with 2 rookies and 3 specialists, lost my support dude and 2 rookies on the way though. What IS important to do? I started on medium and dropped to easy while I was playing the base assault because seriously OTT difficulty

x/post from the Steam thread: I decided to re-install Witcher 3 GOTY thanks to the sale reminding me it existed. I found myself really, really bogged down last time I played. I'd just got to the capital city and it felt like trying to fight off a hundred little gremlins that just wouldn't gently caress off and leave me alone to play the game. I tried to do any quest I saw, I tried to craft, potions, combat, magic all simultaneously and it was just tooooo much. Starting again from scratch, how can I get the most fun experience out of the game? I'm not a completionist, just want to enjoy the story and have a good time. Cheers,

Walrus Pete posted:It sounds like you have a good handle on what turned you off last time. Just do what seems interesting at the time, and don't worry too much about crafting (except for whatever set of witcher armor suits your playstyle). Definitely don't worry about investigating every single map marker, especially in Skellige. The DLCs are probably the best content in the game, and IMO are best left until after you've beaten the main story (100% for Blood and Wine, but Hearts of Stone you can pretty much do whenever) Understood - so simply, path of least resistance play style is?
