*The rats are in case you need enough experience to level, so ignore them.
*Allies are extremely helpful in the early to mid-game.
*Psycho (or two) is your best friend in the wasteland and he works best over quests with tons of enemies in tight spaces.
*Aim for Speech as it is very important at high percentages.
*Tycho gets very angry when you kill people in his town.
*Stick to small guns early on and then energy weapons when you have hundreds of ammo for it.
*A few more points in barter allows you to trade your stimpack for almost two of theirs.
*Don't bother with using the keyword system unless you read about them on some other site.

Suikoden
*Place one water rune for each character you will be using often. The heals add up quickly enough.
*Expect to have people (gently caress you Luc) die often during failed RPS turns. Levels help a lot during those fights.
*Always take a character who is very weak and fight a few battles to make him close to your level and then forget him, until it happens again.
*Don't execute anyone or lose duels.

Final Fantasy Tactics

-Early battles, much like Deus Ex, will be boring! This is because your characters just can't do much other than use items and hit stuff. Hold out! As your characters start advancing in other jobs, the strategic options will open up.

-Use multiple saves and any time you're asked to save between missions (ie with no time on the world map between) save in a new slot. People who know the game know what I'm talking about.

-JP Boost should be the first skill you make every character learn.

-The Guest/Special characters are powerful so use them. TG Cid is overpowered but even Agrias and Mustadio are very powerful if used correctly. The exception here is Cloud. He starts out at level one and in my experience isn't worth it.

-Unless you want to drive yourself crazy, don't bother trying to get all of the rare/unique items. It takes forever and is not necessary for a normal play through. I think the best way to enjoy this game is to just follow the story, grinding where necessary.

-Play it on PSP. The story is better, there are neat bonuses, it looks nicer.
You can open up a menu on the turn order by pressing right and see if you will be fast enough to hit your target in time. I consider this and multiple saves to be the first things you should do in this game.

*You don't need to bother with cards at all. Just keep cards with the most arrows for the tournament.
*Piles of Gil are everywhere you don't think they could be.
*Save up all gemstones for friendly monsters except the ugly cat.
*The auction house randomly prices junk that could be resold and bought back at a lower price.
*The ATE thing is determined by following a fixed path you are currently heading. You can head back to the other path when you are done.
*Your equipment with a bonus to stats will eventually make that stat go up one point after a couple levels. It also stacks and goes up a point at fewer levels. Spirit and speed are not that important.
*Stealing from bosses is the biggest waste of effort in the game. Just get your special junk later on.

If it's your first time playing the game then ditching the knife when you can is good idea. However the knife is still useful for some areas, especially before you get to the police station. In any area that you can safely get something to block you from the zombies you can use the knife to kill them and thus save your ammo. The most obvious part is when you need to climb over a dumpster that is blocking the an alley. Two zombies will approach you while you're on top of the dumpster. They won't be able to hit you so just stab the fuckers.

Playing RE2 for the first time seems so long ago, I envy anyone that can experience that game for the first time. I was so horribly hosed that I never had a chance to get out of the police station. I just shot everything that came at me until I was out of ammo.
I was very unlucky then and almost died to those same zombies who kept throwing up on my shoes and never went down after 30 swipes. It was enough to hate the knife until they proved their worth in RE4.

If you have trouble on Angra after dealing with Azel...I feel sorry for you.

You get a full recovery after beating Azel. Use those orbs and duck when he does his finger flick. You can also duck-dodge his fireballs at close range. You can double click right when he does that shockwave burst and get between the pillars of flame.

If it is Azel:
Abuse the sweep in your moves. Don't save your orbs and tension. Ducking when he attacks can be great setups for sweeps.
Run around like an idiot when he unleashes and use jump attacks when he gets to normal.

Hitman: Blood Money
If no one can see your face, they won't expect you to strangle them easily. They know who you are if they see behind them.
Turn around and duck if someone is approaching you.

You can sometimes walk into restricted areas and get shot at but they might leave you alone if you get out of there quickly and without being violent.

Wait for someone to lean over railings and push them off.

Sneak up behind people with your gun drawn and hold them, then knock them out and drag them away from open places. They will only get up if someone touches them if you didn't shoot the body.

Use weapons appropriate to the situation and uniform. This isn't like the older games.

Take your time in missions.

Add to that:

I'm playing it on normal, and so far it's pretty easy, I'm rolling in ammo and health drinks, but I'm only to the elementary school. Should I play it on hard, even though I'm just playing for the story, or does it get harder from here on out.

Also, are there any secrets I should now about, pickups, things not to do because it will horribly screw your game up even though you could have no way of knowing in advance because that's the way the crazy Japanese do it, etc.

More importantly, does this game grade you on the number of saves, how often you die, because I only want to play through it once for the good ending / how do it get the best ending?
The game grades you on many things, such as the number of saves, continues, time, accuracy, and some other things. It is only for some different new game+ weapons.

Playing on hard seemed to be a horrifying experience as I had no trouble on normal, yet those kids/enemies will spawn nonstop and the endless noise they make, made me erase all my saves. The difficulty isn't entirely like the normal games but at least you get many more enemies at once and ammo becomes scarce.

Use up all your ammo before you fight the final boss for a time-delayed secret. Just fire everything you have and trigger the final battle.

Easy mode doubles your ammo pickup and others make it normal. If you beat the easy game and start over at normal or normal then hard (you are locked in difficulty), you get a bonus multiplier in ammo pickups (maybe up to 9X). Some enemies in places do respawn often in easy mode as far as I can tell, with the headless bears sneaking up on me in the sewers.

Silent Hill 3 does hard mode much better by adding steps to puzzles.

Never do Item World runs early on. If you can kill/move Gatekeepers in two hits on the same turn and clear all 10 floors (10 is all you need for story missions) in around 15 minutes, then you are not wasting your time.

You only need to kill the tenth floor leaders of Item Worlds to get a large bonus increase. Skip all the floors.

Fists moves Gatekeepers off of the panels and giving your Fist users three shoes, is very efficient.

Reload the store to get specialists (or two) that add to the main stat of an item and forgo buying the next level item.

Have you team move in a Turtle formation where they can combo attacks and allow on enemy to hit your guy at a time.

Higher elevations allow more damage and reduces your damage from regular attacks.

Level on maps that have lots of Exp squares or have multiple enemies that can be killed very quickly from the start.

Stealing is very helpful, capturing monster classes (and their items) is even better, if you have lots of disposable guys in your panel. HP is very important (greatly weaken your target) for this and the post game is downright unfair with capturing 5-6 digit HP monsters.

Always attack from behind or the sides if you use regular attacks.

Never balance your guys and fill them with equipment that magnifies their skills.

For level progression, if you are on equal level than the bosses for half the game, then you are good enough. The higher chapters can allow you to fall behind in levels as most of the enemies have no equipment.

Don't bother with the Item World beyond level 10, for the main game. The levels of items will increase faster than your characters can keep up.

Characters generally prefer weapons with an A rank and higher tiered classes could reach S rank (higher tiers will gain weapon levels faster even if the rank is the same). The difference in rank levels are maybe 2-3 point difference per hit and you can level them faster with a 1700 Armsmaster specialist, and make each hit 18 times as effective.

Statisticians max at 300 for a four times experience per kill.

Thieves loving suck for newbies (unless you want to go through the Item World quickly by stack tossing them and Laharl). Just weaken a monster's hp and hope the base panel has enough backup to capture the monster with the items you want.
