So how are the Subaru automatics? More specifically, the older ones?

I may be looking at a 97 Legacy L wagon with an auto. The owner says he's not sure if it's a 2.2 or 2.5, how do you tell? He wants $1500 for it and it has 150k on the clock....Good deal or no? I'm thinking if it's a 2.2 I'll jump on it.

I'm going to look at a 97 automatic Legacy wagon today or tomorrow, along with a Jeep Cherokee of the same year. Both the same price ($1500), but the Legacy has 50k more miles on it.

Can anyone give me some tips on what to look for on the Legacy? Any problem areas that need special attention? Also how do you tell if it's a 2.2 or 2.5?

Any issues with 2010 Imprezzas?

I found a sweet looking Outback Sport MT with 95k on it for 9 grand. It checks all my needs but I really don't want to deal with head gaskets if that's still an issue.
