was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the instruments used in this track: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xm4SZgupmk4 I can tell there's a lot of organ-styled synths in there, as well as a guitar, but the lead line I can't quite figure out. Could it be a heavily processed guitar? It really kicks in after the final 'launch sequence'. It's pretty badass.

he uses a similar sound a few tracks. Apparently it's NI Massive, there's a few youtubes kicking around with tutorials, might give you some starting points. I'm no Massive expert by any means, but I suspect there's at least two instances of it being used in some parts of that. Does anyone else think some of the sounds are reminiscent of dogs barking, lions roaring etc. ? edit: fooled around a bit, apply Perf (7) to your cutoff, add feedback and feed bass in. Go to your Perf tab and go nuts on it. You're gonna need to jam. edit 2: found this for you: http://freedubbytechyshizz.blogspot.com/2011/02/flux-pavillion-ni-massive-presets.html I made this with it: http://soundcloud.com/m-dubbs/papparazzi-remix well why not fucked around with this message at 11:15 on Apr 11, 2011 |

Could you use the Performer over an LFO? Set it so you have fast spikes, then slow, then fast? It's sounding good so far.

I figured that was the results of a buttload of time spend in the MASSIVE Performer tab. The dude knows his way around NI Massive, no matter what detractors say. I'm not near my computer, but I think you'll want to be setting an OSC to format, with a 'dirty' wave and modulating both the Wavetable Position and the Intensity with a Performer/LFO. But that's pretty basic.

Vira posted:Anyone have any tips on creating a loud but deep bassy drum kick that doesn't completely overpower your speakers when you want every other instrument to still come through? Sidechain your stuff to the kick. It'll 'suck' the volume down with the kick drum.

Trying to figure out Deadmau5's Ghosts N' Stuff bassline, but YT isn't too helpful and my brain isn't wokring. What happens here (22s) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7ArUgxtlJs&t=21s DUN DUN DUN DUWAAAAH DUN DUN. It's not obviously an LFO or enveloped. Is it just stacks of modulation/automation? I have Operator, Massive, FM8. well why not fucked around with this message at 09:28 on Feb 19, 2013 |

I've got a bit of a weird question - how would you describe / label the sort of rhythm used in Feed Me's One Click Headshot ? It's a 110bpm tune with heaps of sidechaining and modulation etc, but there's something extra groovy happening I can't quite put my finger on.

What sort of processing / effects does Mat Zo use on his percussion? It sounds so clear, but also kinda splashy. I'm a little stumped at how the hats are accomplished overall.
