I'd really love to know how to re-create the bass tone used in this battle song from the game earthbound (bass comes in at about 19 seconds):

It sounds so basic, and yet I just cannot get subtractor to sound this way. It's such a perfect tone for what I'm trying to do, really rich with all the bass frequencies I want and none of the ones I don't. I realize its an SNES game, so there are probably only so many things it could be, but I'm pretty sure SNES games also had the ability to use their own custom sound modules, rather than the really basic square\triangle\sine the NES was limited to. Could be wrong though.
