Back in 2001 or so I downloaded an obscure puzzle game for Windows called "Package". It was Japanese in origin, and freeware. It also had a really catchy background music MIDI that rivaled Tetrinet in catchiness.

It looks like this:

Feeling nostalgic, I searched high and low for it a few months ago, and only got as far as a few websites. Believe me, it is damned hard to search for a Windows program with such a generic name. It was little heard-of I'm sure, and from Japan, and old (it says it's for Windows 95 in the screenshot, so it must have already been a few years old when I downloaded it). I'm not surprised that there's almost no reference to it on the internet at all.

I actually found an archive of the site that I originally downloaded it from: link. The page says its filename is sc5scr.zip, but the link points to the correct file of package.zip. The download link doesn't work though.

And I found some bizarre anime website that is currently hosting it, that you need to pay $8/month to access its files: link, (ctrl+f for package). This lists its filename as packinst.exe, which the game extracts from.

I also found this FAQ for it: link

So, goons, do any of you have a way I can play this game again, or is it doomed to be held for ransom forever by some weird, creepy anime website that was designed in 1998?

Haha. Man I had so many games from Otakuworld once. Stopped downloading once they started charging for freeware a large number of years back. I'll hunt around to see if I have backups.

I put a search in google for package.exe ゲーム Windows95 The name of the file and file size and the fact that it was a Windows 95 game helped me figure out where it was. :)

ゲーム means game.

Sick. I'll have to put it on my XP computer (Vista hates it) and see if it's as fun as I remember.

Listening to the MIDI though, it's awesome :)

Ive been trying so desperatley to find a video clip of an old sprite commercial from the 90's titled "Big Load." It features a rip off of a laundry detergent add and compares sprite against the "leading detergent." The ending of the commercial was priceless, the person drinks the dirty sprite out of the bowl. Ive tried but could not find a clip of it anywhere.

A couple of years back I saw a nice little demoscene video called (or tagged) 'infinite zoom'. It started with a long, zooming in sequence starting with geometric shapes and patterns. It then zoomed in and out, with text written in various scales hidden amongst itself; it would show a word then zoom out to reveal the word was written on the cross of a t etc etc etc.

Anyone have any idea where this could be found?

There is a site by some artist who does paintings of what humans might have been like if we'd evolved differently (or something along those lines)... some goon made one of his paintings into a christmas card that was basically a horrible painting of a yeti-creature fighting another smaller yeti-creature that had "Seasons Greetings" overlaid on top. It was hilarious and if anyone knows what I am talking about and can find it, I will be sending it to everyone I know this holiday season.

There was this Star Wars video edit compilation from years ago on the forums where Han always shot second, like when they're in prison level and the comm panel shoots at Han before he blasts it, and they're in the trash compactor and the door shoots at him first, and in the Cloud City when they meet Vader and Vader shoots at Han before he returns fire.

This is a shot in the dark and it sounds really bad but about a year ago or someone posted this hilarious 3d porn comic that I believe was made in russia or somewhere and it looked like so much poo poo. Pretty much the story is this girl is out on a date at a restaurant and the guy like does something to piss her off so she leaves and for whatever reason this grey horse is just chilling in the back alley behind the restaurant and the chick gets it on with it and the horse has this retarded as hell grin. I could probably think up who started the thread if anyone else remembers this, if no one does it's probably a good thing.

I saw an image a few years back that was a chart detailing the relationships of a high school. It was basically a giant ring of connected blue and pink circles (and a couple of pink-pink and blue-blue), but it splintered off in some parts, and then there were some independent connections separate from the main ring. I think it was originally discussed on SA, but I'm not sure. Any help?

One summer when I was still in high school (probably three or four years ago actually) i somehow stumbled across this flash cartoon series about a human and some kind of alien snake that constantly get drunk and go on various insane adventures such as trying to get laid on the planet Raveni Violentus that is inhabited by raging sexy amazons.

their spaceship had a computer with a french accent named Computaire and I just cannot seem to remember the name of the cartoon or be able to type the right words in google to make it pop up. surely someone here saw it at one point.
