I would love it if someone did because streaming movies off my home Linux server's huge storage array to the AppleTV would be boss, but nope.

I've heard from numerous sources that the reason for the renaming of files and the F##/ filesystem structure on an iPod's music is an engineering decision for speed and indexing, nothing to do with copyright.
