Most people would agree with you, I think. It's not difficult for me to pick my favourites. Part 3 is the best of the early flicks, aside from the few obvious 3-D gags. And part 6 is probably my favourite of the "unstoppable Jason" flicks, mainly for the perfect blend of comedy and horror, and the sly self-awareness that so many 90s horror films tried to copy. Unlike many people, I don't mind part 5, as I can understand that they were trying to take the series in a new direction. But I take issue with the director, who had previously only made porn movies and (from the interviews in Crystal Lake Memories) was apparently a real jerk. But there is two AWESOME scenes: Tiffany Helm (Violet) and Miguel Nunez Jr (Demon)'s death scenes. Mister Sinister fucked around with this message at 15:02 on Dec 30, 2008 |

Darko posted:Ugh, you like part 3? I'd say that was the worst of the early ones; every kill was slowly COMING AT THE SCREEN or badly paced, most of the kills were first person, which had gotten old after the first two, and pointless, and the climax was probably the worst of the first 4. The consensus is basically that 4 is the best of the "living" Jason ones, and 6 is the best of the "zombie" Jasons. I'm surprised that you say that; I've never heard anybody say they like part 4 the most... I mean, the kills are pretty terrible other than Ted and Jimmy's. There's not much tension, either. I'm also surprised because I think the climax of part 3 is the best in the series, except maybe for part 2. The fact that Jason tears apart the house chasing Chris, and that she actually fights back, overcoming her earlier fears, just seems much more interesting that "little kid with monster makeup decides to make himself look like Jason to confuse him", which makes no sense, since Ginny did it much better in part 2 ("Jason, listen to your mother!").

Did anybody else but me notice the amount of "eye gouge" kills in part 5? It was a disproportionate amount. Girl with the sheers to the eyes, Dude with his eyes/bridge of his nose crushed against the tree with a belt, dude pinned to a tree with railroad spikes in his eyes, old black man with his eyes gouged out... I think there might've been others. Basically I just felt like there was some weird undercurrent there, like Roy was killing people who had "seen" too much, but I don't know, then again it's most likely nothing, because there's a lot of cleavers/axes to the face in that film too (dude in the car, old redneck lady, stuttering guy). My favourite setpieces in the series are the RV sequence (Nikki/Cort) in part 6 and the handstand/hammock sequence (Andy/Debbie) in part 3.
