3 is entirely redeemed by the death immediately following Jason getting his Hockey Mask. It took forever, but the girl's dialog is so hilarious as she slowly, so very slowly, comes to realize that the guy in the Hockey Mask aiming an arrow at her head isn't that lovable prankster Shelly.

It was more that the obvious choice had all the clues pointing away from them, and even the flashbacks to show how he did it all didn't really jive with what happened. Everything was pointing towards Axel or Harry Warden, with the few hints toward Hanniger being contradicted by the rest. If they wanted a real surprise twist they should have gone with the black deputy.
