I think two things: 1.) The link is broken because of the period at the end. 2.) I think it sounds ok, as long as you're using it to bridge into something else and not playing the full 5 minute song. I would probably only go with 90 seconds of it at the most, but that's just me.

edit: maybe try it with an acapella over it

Using the second song as a bridge? I never dwell on any one song for longer than 2 or 3 minutes so I wouldn't be playing the whole thing anyway.

Also: I made sure that link worked like 5 times before I hit post -_- (also link snype: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/vxmo)

New Mix for all you tech-heads. :)

Sjoewe and I recorded this set this afternoon. It turned out so well, we're thinking of using it as a demo-tape to send to some clubs and organisations.

We recently came up with a name for our DJ-duo: Rahmenfluss. It's German, but doesn't really mean anything other than our two last names combined in a weird way. We figured however that since we're playing minimal and techno having a German name would be the way to go. I'm just making up a good story to cover the fact that it started out as a joke, but then kinda stuck. :hydrogen:

Alright, here's my newest mix. It's my first since switching from the Total Control to the VCI-100. I'm still getting used to mixing with a 4-band EQ instead of 3, but even though I'm not accustomed to it yet, it still makes mixing a hell of a lot easier/more fluid.

90 minutes of nasty tech beats with a little progressive and electro thrown in for good measure. Some tracks are new, some are old, some I've used in other mixes I've posted, most of them I haven't. It's also the first installment of my new "Big Sounds at Good Speeds for Better People" mix series, and I'm considering using it as my demo-ish mix. Anyway, enjoy! As always, feedback would be lovely :)

This is a minimal/liquid dnb set made by a friend of mine. There's a lot of techno-influenced stuff in there so you guys should check it out even if you don't normally like dnb - this is VERY different to the normal stuff. Apparently after around 28 minutes he forgot to stop recording :v: so after that wasn't meant to be on there. I reckon it still sounds pretty good though.

Instra:mental - Hunter
Phobia & Jubei - Guillotine (Breakages remix)
Electrosoul System - After Hours

Sorry for the shameless plugging, but if any of you goons in the LA area have nothing to do next Friday night, UCLA is throwing an EDM event on campus. Its called Electric Love Fest (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=54671147954#/event.php?eid=54671147954&ref=mf): it runs from 6-11 (lame, I know, but it's a campus thing) and is open to everybody (not just UCLA students). I feel you. Especially if you're bringing records to the club, its really easy to forget what's on where, so I like to put poo poo i KNOW i'm gonna wanna drop at the front of the crate, but with laptop djing, its a whole different game. I've cheated with pieces of paper or little notepad files. Hell I used to play Ableton sets all the time.

But really, the only real thing to do is know your collection. Its just a part of being a DJ. After a while, you can just feel it "ooooh i wanna drop this track next"

And don't be too self-conscious. Another part is having bad transitions and selecting bad songs that just don't mesh together. Not every set's gotta be some epic, perfectly beat matched and in key and compliment eachother perfectly. You're just dropping tracks. Some transitions just aren't that hot. I forget about a DJ trainwrecking in like 30 seconds and I'll totally forget about it unless he keeps loving it up.

Yeah, crate management is a pretty important thing to get the hang of. When I'm playing all vinyl I'll sort stuff kind of by 'energy level' or whatever if that makes any sense so I can go straight to the mood I'm going for. On Serato I make little sub-crate folders all the time and drop 30 or 40 tracks in there. It definately can help to cut your options down a little bit beforehand so that you go into a more focused direction. On the other hand, when I play in my bedroom, I have pretty much instant access to my huge wall-o-vinyl and that's fun to do too, but maybe creates wierd, sprawling sets.
