Given how terrible our current economy is, I'm sure there are a ton of goons without jobs right now. Although the job market is awful, there are still jobs out there to be had. One of my good friends works in recruiting, and is especially picky when selecting candidates now since there are so many people out there. He said a lot of companies have actually been focusing more on getting employee referrals rather than spamming job sites or going to recruiters, since the quality of workers are typically better. So, if you've got job openings at your company, and would be willing to refer a goon (after you do your own due diligence of course; quick phone call, scan of the resume etc.), please post it here! I just got laid off in November, I'm looking for work anywhere around Denver, although the farther south the better, no farther than Castle Rock preferrably. I'm willing to commute as far north as Boulder but that would suck hard. Englewood, Highlands Ranch, the Tech Center, Golden or Arvada would be good commutes for me. I'm a Mechanical Engineer with 20 years experience, my specialties are in high precision machined parts and assemblies, prototype and custom machines for specific applications. I have machine shop experience and have worked closely with machinists and assemblers for good understanding of shop practices. I also have some experience with molded plastic volume production parts, but that's my weakest area. The industries and "genres" I'm experienced in are sub-10HP power transmissions, metal cutting tools, small feed mechanisms for said tools, loading mechanisms and transports for data storage tape drives, and one on-body monitoring device. I'm much more of a nuts and bolts kind of engineer than a heavy analyst. I've seen some job descriptions around that are practically tailor made for my resume, but no callbacks yet. Thanks. Going crazy here... I graduated college in August and have been on a lot of interviews but no job yet. I have a BS in Marketing and a BA in History with a Psychology minor. For work history I worked for state government as a tax collections agent. So I know the office type jobs, worked the phones all day, processed payments, met with people, normal computers uses, data entry, etc. Also 4 years as a student worker. I could probably get A+ certification if I'd get around to the test but money is tight right now. I'd just like an entry level job in sales, marketing or general business at this point I mean I have the education for it I'd know what to do and could learn it fast. Anywhere in Vermont, New Hampshire or Maine would be good Burlington, VT would be my ideal place but at this point I just need decent work. The company I work at is hiring Logistics Brokers; basically a salary plus commission deal. We're on a hiring frenzy at the moment, which is nice, if sales is your thing. Location: Greater Burlington, VT area, but willing to relocate to almost anywhere. Industry: Biomedical engineering. I graduated from RPI in 2004 with a BS in biomedical engineering, and completed one year of a master's program at the University of Vermont in the same field. I worked for two years as a biomedical technician, fixing, inspecting, and calibrating hospital equipment. I'd like to get into actual engineering work, not technician stuff. my concentration is in mechanics, so orthopedics would be nice, but I also have a lot of coursework in cardiovascular physiology. I'm also open to going into sales or some sort of clinical applications, like demonstrating medical products, teaching surgeons and doctors on equipment, that sort of thing.

She was also a waitress for 25 years and is really good with people (she'd prefer not to work with customers anymore but I don't think she cares at this point), though bad at interviews. She is a perfectionist and obsessed with work (she worked about 68 hours a week for my grandma). I don't want to move geographically, but am more than happy to pick up any skills I need to find a real job. (Not food service) Decent with HTML and Photoshop, proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Word. I also have some basic recording hardware and software experience, mostly in Sonar. I just thought I'd chime in and suggest that, if anyone is interested, my employers are looking for people who might want to come to the city of Luoyang in Henan, China for at least one year to teach English. There's already a thread about it here http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3063119 After graduating with a BA last summer I had a lot of trouble finding a job back home, so I wound up getting this one through an SA thread. Overall it's been a pretty good experience, and while the pay isn't high in terms of USD (about $800/month plus accomodation, travelling expenses refunded upon contract completion) it is pretty high compared to the cost of living, and a decent option for waiting out the recession back home.

I'm in Atlanta, GA. I take almost all lab courses at the moment and I have nothing to do from 7am-5pm. I was hoping for a full time job that I could do in the area. My resume is at HamiltonShu.com. I'm kinda hoping to do some help desk or some sort of Technical support or administrative assistant position within the metro Atlanta region. I work for USAA. It is primarily an auto/homeowner insurance company for the military. However, it has expanded into all aspects of financial management as well, with banking, etc. With roughly 22k employees and several locations, we are always hiring for a variety of positions. While primarily a call center environment, there are a lot of support services like IT, admin, security, as well as financial advisers, mortgage specialists, bank reps, etc. Front line, entry level no experience call center positions start around $14/hr. You must be willing to relocate to one of the campuses(San Antonio, Phoenix, Colorado Springs, Tampa, Sacramento, and Norfolk). I work in the Phoenix location, so I can only refer there. Allentown, PA Sales Engineer Tooling Manufacture My second posting in this thread. I pasted the below from my cousin's linkedin account. It's in Allentown, which is kind of a hellhole, but it's really a great business. I did some technical writing for them, and honestly, it's just a neat place. Picture your stereotypical small warehouse loaded with tools, c&c machines, raw materials, metal shavings, and a handful of engineers and designers coming and going. They have machines out the door, so it's not a startup exactly, and everything's in place except for an engineer with sales and organizational experience to put it all together.
