You're forgetting the first two Dwarves albums... Alright this is pretty much directed at HAI, I'm looking for something like what you posted here http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=2945218&pagenumber=55#post380855359, for some reason British accents in rap always annoyed the hell out of me, but I was digging this. Should I just listen to Rinse until I find something I like or is there something specific I should check out? I thought all British pop was like Jedward or something...

I know the Direct Beat label is kind of the home for this stuff, and I like some DJ Assault and DJ Godfather stuff where they tone down the silly lyrics and amp up the bleep bloop. Anything else? If ya like DJ Assault and DJ Godfather, you'll love Mr. De, Starski and Clutch, Dj Chip, DJ Thadz, DJ. Deeon, DJ Funk, N-Ter. One of my favorites https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhwOyq_rzkI new favorite https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld5aW0C5iWk also great, really just a sped up kraftwerk song but its great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-TvBIfaJPi8 Or you could go back to the roots of that poo poo and check out some Miami bass, which you're probably familiar with anyway. But, Bass Computer by Techmaster P.E.B. has massive bass, no rapping and a big detroit techno influence. Some wicked sampling and mixxing on it. The warning on the cover isn't lying by the way... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHRN5kErs5c fake edit: didn't see that you like the toned down lyrics, so maybe disregard Mr. De' and DJ Deeon. Judas Priest Friday posted:I've been a long time fan of synthpop and a wide variety of music from the 80s, but yesterday a friend introduced me to the track "Another Life" by Kano. I loved the hell out of it, but I have no idea where to get started with getting into/finding more good Italo-Disco stuff. Recommendations? https://intergalactic.fm/ is a drat good resource. esepecially Intergalactic Classix. Youtube is surprisingly helpful, since a lot of great singles are on there. Don't limit yourself to Italo, Hi-NRG is just as great. Some of my favorites are (I'm by no means an expert on this poo poo, and I'd assume a lot of these are pretty obvious): Lime - Lime II (especially the song Babe, We're Gonna Love Tonite) Easy Going - Casanova Phaeax - Talk About Cinema - I Love Men Miquel Brown - So Many Men, So Little Time Divine - Shoot Your Shot Divine - Native Love (Step by Step) Bronksi Beat - Smalltown Boy Fun Fun - Have Fun The Flirts - Made in America Patrick Cowley - Megatron Man And for me, I'm looking for some soulful southern hip-hop. I know most of the SUC stuff and a lot of that is close to what I'm looking for, but I guess I'm looking for something in between Pimp C's sweet side and Z-Ro.

OMD are loving fantastic. Dazzle Ships is one of the best new wave/synth pop albums, but Organisation and the self titled are almost as good. I'm sure you've heard New Order, but if you haven't listen to any of their singles from the 80s (the 90s stuff ain't bad, its just less catchy). The Thompson Twins and Heaven 17 are two groups that tend to get over looked when people talk about 80s pop, also good stuff.

Bands like Reação adversa, Noção de Nada, Kaos 64, Tropa Suicida, Inkisição, Dias de um futuro de esquicido, Eu Serei a Hiena (not technically punk I guess?), etc. Anyways I'd like to get more spanish punk though, since I'll be going abroad next summer and wanting to immerse myself in the language, having plenty of music I like in the appropriate language would also be pretty cool and a big help. So I'm looking for bands like some of those portuguese/brasilian ones, or like some of the spanish bands I already listen to, So for like, similar styles: I know this isn't the most helpful recommendation, but http://homepages.nyu.edu/~cch223/spain/Main.html can be pretty helpful for finding non-US bands. Just click around and find whats good. Now if you asked for Italian punk and hardcore I could definitely help you, but that's about as far as my European hardcore knowledge goes.

kingcobweb posted:As far as early 80s music like Unlimited Touch, you're probably looking more for the vague non-genre of "post-disco" more than "funk." Check out the blog Beat Electric if you want crate-dug type stuff (and it'll definitely fulfill your "lot of synth" criteria). You might also be interested in basically everything Roy Ayers breathed on in that decade (might be a bit too disco though): I know the classics fairly well, so I guess I was looking for the more obscure cuts. And I got no problem with disco at all, but same with funk, I dig the synthier Hi-NRG and Italo sounds.
